Tarver in Detroit, Mi

Seeking information on Earl and Lydia Walker Tarver. They were living in Detroit prior to Lydia's mother's death (Florence Tucker Walker Howard Lee) in 1927. Her step siblings appear to have been Victor P. Howard, Corrine Howard Green, Ray, Gladys and Ellsworth Howard. Lydia was born around 1901 and appears to have married Mr. Tarver (or at least is not with her parents) in the 1920 census.

Two Charlotte Tarvers in Wilkes County, Georgia?

Hello Tarver Kin,

There was much discussion on this topic a few years ago, but I cannot seem to find the "right answer" in what has been posted, or figure it out with what evidence I have.

1. A Charlotte Tarver (1786-1857) married Samuel Bennett Tarver. Wilkes County court records strongly suggest she was the daughter of a John Tarver and an Elizabeth Jordan. Several researchers give her middle name as Arnold, which seems to add confusion, because:

2. Another Charlotte Tarver (1772-1849), as his second wife, married Zachariah Arnold, and they removed to Tennessee. Several researchers have also suggested she was the daughter of a John Tarver and an Elizabeth Jordan.

There were a number of Tarvers and Jordans in the area. Could it be that each of the two Charlottes was the daughter of a different John Tarver and Elizabeth Jordan?

The Charlotte Tarver who married Samuel B. Tarver seems to have a fairly well documented ancestry. Can someone please help me understand where the Charlotte who married Zachariah Arnold fits in with the earlier Tarvers? Or, how the two John Tarvers and Elizabeth Jordans relate, assuming these are the correct parents for the two Charlottes?

I am related to both Charlotte Tarvers, as well as at least one of the Elizabeth Jordans.

Sure would appreciate someone more knowledgeable than I on the Tarvers pointing me in the right direction!

Thanks,

Bob J.

Earl and Lydia Tarver, Detroit MI

Looking for information on this family. I believe they married in Ohio and moved to Detroit, Mi. At the time of Lydia's mother's death in October 1927, it lists the famly as being in Detroit. Lydia was born around 1891. In the 1900 census in Butler, Pa., she has the last name of Walker and is living with her mother Florence Howard, her husband Allen, and a brother, Victor P. Howard. Other surnames connected with her (mother married again and then adopted her sisters kids) would be Washington, Lee.

Andrew and Ann had a daughter Nancy who married Wyatt Allen December 19, 1805 Brunswick Co., Virginia. Wyatt and Nancy migrated to Twiggs county about 1840. Any thoughts? Two Andrews?
I'm interested in any info on Andrew Tarver. Andrew and Ann had a daughter Nancy who married Wyatt Allen 1805. They had three boys that I know of; Robert L Allen, Andrew Young Allen and Wyatt Carter Allen who is my line. What is interesting is Wyatt Allen appears in the 1840 Twiggs co census and Nancy Tarver Allen appears in the 1850 census by herself. In your pervious post you mention Hartwell living in Twiggs Co. Any info you may have on the names above would be greatly appreciated

Hi there! It's many years since you posted your interest in the Tarvers of Lafayette, LA. My grandfather was Harry Warren Tarver. His wife of a few years was Gladys Evelyn Aaron. Harry had two aunts in Chicago with whom Harry and Gladys lived for awhile. My father, Henry Adrion Tarver, was born in Chicago. I found a link to Harry's father, Warren -- but my search ends there. I'm sure we have common relatives. Are you still looking and working on your family tree?
Andrew Tarver (c1764-1820) was the father of Hartwell Hill Tarver. Hartwell's mother was Elizabeth Hartwell Tarver (b 1791, Brunswick County Georgia)

Hartwell accumulated the land that became the plantation in Twiggs Co. and owned the trading post that became Albany Georgia. I know more about this line of Tarvers if you are interested.

I am very much interested in finding out which Tarver brothers fought in the American Revolution.

Jill Chesler
Lebanon has a street named after Tarver (the university avenue for Cumberland University).

My branch of the Travers came from Harselle ALa - Alxander Tarver - land grant after war of 1812 for soldiers.

I am in Nashville and a Tarver and travel Tarver Ave frequently. If this is the right one he was a 1958 graduate of West Memphis , AR High School.
Back in the 1940's the Tarvers and my family lived in a converted railroad hotel in Hulbert, AR.
The "Texas Giant" came to visit on a couple of occasions and my mother knew him, but I was a bit young.
In an ironic twist Mr. Tarver was so tall and a friend of my was the mortician that prepared him for burial. Pat stood probaly a full 5 foo 2 inches or so.

I am trying to find the connection between my relative, Henry Tarver, to Hartwell Hill Tarver. I have found them in several census' living next door to each other, along with William M. Tarver in Georgia. They are of the same generation, and believe they are all brothers. Does anyone have information of who Hartwell's parents are? I have seen postings of his parent's names, but not a complete list of their children. Any help would be great! Info from a Tarver/Kennan family bible says that Henry, born abt. 1796, died in a tornado in Georgia. His daughter, Susan Ann Tarver, married Thomas Franklin Keenan.
john w. tarver, methodist minister, greenville county

I am and have been working on various lines of the Tarver families for some time now. I am curious about a possible link between John Tarver, a Methodist minister in and around Greenville and Spartanburgh, S.C. counties in the 1840's and 1850's to John Tarver, a Methodist minister, who resided in Amite county, Ms. from about 1807 to his death in the 1820's. I would appreciate any information. If someone could provide me the census details for John of Greenville county, S.C. (breakdown of members and ages in the h/h) from the 1840 and 1850 censuses; it would be greatly appreciated.

6 Tarver brothers in Revolutionary War-- John, Benjamin and ??

Would like to discuss with anyone interested in identifying the 6 brothers who fought in the Revolutionay War as mentioned in the piece, Prominent Tennesseans--Hon. Benj. J. Tarver, which identifies one of the brothers as Benjamin who settled in Wilson county, Tenn. --In the Biographical Sketch by B. Tarver; the same Benjamin is identified with an older brother named John---Attempting to identify the other brothers and to place the John in southern Ms. in the early 1800's--It is my belief that this Benjamin and John are the sons of another Benjamin who was a captain in the Revolutionary War on one expedition into Va. to deliver prisoners--I feel that records existing in Greensville county, Va. tend to indicate that the above brothers, John and Benjamin were residing in that county in the time period 1783 to 1785. Another possible brother, Andrew married Ann Young in that county in 1785. An Ann Young is shown on the first census of Greensville county, Va. (1783 to 1785) 3 households away from the John Tarbor household on that same census. I feel that this Andrew was the father of Hartwell Hill Tarver, who eventually became a wealthy land owner in Twiggs county, Ga. and who resided in Tarversville, Ga. there. My line is out of the southern Ms. Tarvers, most likely the John who is shown there in Amite county in time period 1810 or so to the early 1820's. Any ideas, thoughts and discussion will be greatly appreciated.
