I was looking at the 1866 Covington Co., AL state census. I came across a Sarah Turvin aged 90-100 living alone. I had other Turvin ancestors on this same census, but I have been unable to place Sarah. Does anyone know who this person is?

http://www.trackingyourroots.com/data/1866.htm

Thanks,
Amanda

I recently attempted to contact Dorothy Tarvin Gibson concerning some 1852 Tarvin information I had run across and did not receive a reply. She and I had corresponded in the past concerning my TARVIN/SIZEMORE connection in Creek Indian territory in the 1800's. Would appreciate hearing from an active TARVIN researcher who could help me sort out the TARVINs in this information.
Evelyn Leslie
esleslie@bellsouth.net
yes, a little...Savannah was was buried in Bush Arbor Cem. near Rome Georgia. My guess is because the Smith's have plots there, and her sister handle the arrangements. She pass unexpectedly and left her husband Joseph Monroe to raise about 5-6 children. He remarried shortly after this to a Chambers woman. I was able to get a little info on her parents, but would love to find a picture of her, or get any other info you may have.

Thanks so much, Jo

Constance, thank you. I just found this same census record on March 21st. Yes, I agree his name is Tink, not Link as they have it and now I know it is not a nickname! On my G. Aunt Clara, I too thought maybe that was a "G", perhaps for her maiden name Gann, but it also looks like a lower case "z". He age is incorrect on the census, I don't know how they could be so far off, but on the 1910 census she was 6 and 1920 she was 16, making her year of birth 1904. I have also found on SSDI, Clara O. Tarvin, same date of birth, and place of death in Boaz, Marshall Co., AL. This is where she and all of her siblings were born and raised, until after 1912 and before 1917, when they moved to Gadsden, Etowah Co., AL Thank you again, I appreciate it so very much.
Linda

Ooops, I posted too soon. Yes, I do find a Josephine L. Tarvin, known as Josie, born 1878. She is fourth child of Henry B. Tarvin and Catherine Smith. She is of the Tarvin Line 1 and Line 3, so shows up in both books. But in the Line 1 book, she was called Joseph. Only other information we had published is that she married 12 Feb 1896 Andrew Nelson at Campbell Co., Kentucky. Any more you can provide to the family would be appreciated.

Robert Glenn Smith of central IL, maybe Texas - mar. Tarvin

Seeking ANY information on Robert Glenn Smith. Here is the little that we know:

Married Margaret "Dorene" Tarvin. She was from Pana, Christian County, IL. Robert was in the Air Force, and may have married her in Texas, as he was stationed somewhere there. They were the parents of two sons, Lawrence Stephen and David Michael. Robert has a sister that lived in Pana, IL, that went by the name Boots, last name Kuntz/Kootz (or something like that!!) Very little is known about Robert, as he and Dorene divorced when the boys were about 6 & 4 years old. Robert was known by the nickname "Bud". Seeking ANY information about him,....his grandchildren are interested in learning any and everything they can. Pictures? Is he still living? If so, where? If not, where and when did he die? Did he have other children? Does he know he has grandchildren still in IL? etc., etc.

Thanks for any and all help!!

Alicia Morgason & Karissa Ryherd (Karissa's line)
abcm191c@moultrie.com or moms_crewx2@yahoo.com
Gary,
Unfortunately the only information that I have is that Lindy Tarvin married James F. Kiser (Kizer) abut 1825 or 1830. They had a son William Kiser who married Mary Lockhart. Willim and Mary were married in Hamilton, Ill. William Kiser was born 5/28/1861 in Carthage, Campbell County, Kentucky and he was the oldest of 7 children. Thanks for checking!

Deb,

The manuscript of the Tarvin Line 3 book is just going to press. Here is what it has for a likely candidate for your Melinda Tarvin. Perhaps you can provide better information than this. Carthage, Kentucky, is within 50 miles of Hamilton, Ohio. You can order the book from the Tarvin web site, http://www.tarvinfamily.org/

3.8.2 MELINDA TARVIN
3.8.2 MELINDA TARVIN was born about 1842 at Carthage, Campbell Co., Kentucky, the second child of Thomas T. Tarvin and Susan Henderson.

She was listed in 1850 census as eight years of age, but not listed in 1860 census.

She married 1860 George Anderson.
Ref: Armstrong, Baker, and Tarvin Families by Dorothy Armstrong Holcomb.

The Arkansas Tarvins probably stem from what we call the William line. William Tarvin was probably an uncle of Rev. George Tarvin whose 13 children spread out in Kentucky and beyond. William's descendants spread out from Georgia through the South. The Tarvin Family Association has some members who know more about the William line than I do.
