Classification: Query
Surnames: Tate, Gardner, Fletcher, Grady, Haden
Trying to find information on Peggy Gardner Tate who I believe was the daughter of Josephine Gardner (whose father was Joseph Grady). Joseph Grady's father (from what I can tell) was William Grady who died in Louisa County in 1812. His land was the 25 acres in dispute in the Chancery Court Case against the Sulfur Mine Company of Virginia in 1899. All of his "heirs" descended brought forth suit. I have a copy from the Library of Virginia listing these names.
The reason I wish Peggy Gardner information is that she is the mother of my great grandmother, Josephine Fletcher and her sister, Mary Jane Fletcher Haden. It seems Peggy Gardner married a James Fletcher, divorced him and married a Tate, according to the court documents I have in my possession. I am having a hard time reading the document.
I have tried calling the Louisa County Historical Society and all I get is the answering machine and they have yet to return the messages I have left. If any one could help me sort through this and come to some sort of a conclusion or steer me to someone who could - I would be very happy.
Thank you.
