I'm also looking for a Native American Taylor. Does your Grandmother recall a relative named James F. TAYLOR (b.1850's-d. 1933)who was married to Nancy Futch? There children's names were Lydia (my ggrandmother who lived around Harrison Jonesville, Louisiana), Lessie, Lucy, Elizabeth "Dee", Jerome, Lola, Rose, Clara, James Horace. I don't know where James Taylor was from, but have assumed he may have been from Mississippi. I was told both of Lydia Taylor's grandfathers were Indian. One of her grandfathers used to swim across the Mississippi River to visit her. Presumably he died in one of his attempts, because he was never seen again. Do any of these names or story sound familiar to your grandmother?
Lydia is buried in the Harrisonburg Cemetary in Louisiana.
You may e-mail me at tbchristie@aol.com. Thanks,
Sharon
