Dear Laura;
Sorry I have been out of touch. I think we probably are related and I would love to hear more about my father's family. My son is doing a school project on geneology and I am having some trouble keeping the family line straight. I think Thomas Teears and Ada Lenton came from England, but are they Henry's parents or is there another generation in between. Thank you for all your help.
Joyce Yeager

I do believe that we are related. My grandfather was Charles Teears and he was born in Roxborough, (which is a section of Philadelphia) in 1900. My grandfather had a brother named Henry who was (according to the information given to me by my cousin) born on September 7, 1894 and died October 28, 1970 in Pensacola, Florida. This information may not be exact, but it does sound very close to yours. I have information on the Teears line as well as pictures of the "boys". Do you remember if your grandfather was a firefighter in Gloucester City, New Jersey? Most of the boys from this family were and I have a picture of them on their fire truck, but I cannot remember right now if Henry was one of them. I also have Lenton family information as Elsie Lenton was their mother. If this sounds like your grandfather's family, please contact me. I have a lot more to share with you.

Laura

I am new to geneology. My grandfather was Henry Teears who was married to Rebecca Gates and lived in Philadelphia.
I believe he was born September 27,1894 and died in October, 1964. I don't think we are related, but in your searches have you heard of this Teears line?

I'm trying to find information on my maternal great-grandparents, Leo and Anna Tears. I don't know Ann's maiden name. They had a daughter named Helen who was born in 1909. She had two daughters Helen and Marjorie by married Stephen Jacopec. If anyone has any information, please let me know. I can't find anything on these two people. And not knowing Anna's maiden name doesn't help.

Thanks,
Joan

Teears in US

Hi Amanda,

My great grandfather was Henry Teears. He married Sarah Ellen (maiden name unknown). They lived in Manchester, Lancashire, England. Their son, Thomas, is my grandfather. He was born on January 26, 1963 and married Ada Lenton. She was married to a Sparry previously. Apparently so was Thomas. The story goes that Thomas and his first wife were friendly with Ada Lenton Sparry and her husband. Both couples were expecting at the same time. Ada's husband was on the way to the hospital to see Ada and their new child when he was hit by a train. Thomas' wife died in childbirth. Ada's child also died shortly after birth. So as not to upset Ada, who in one short day lost her husband, baby and best friend, the doctors gave Thomas' baby to Ada, stating that the son was hers, his name was Frank and he took the name of Sparry. Thomas and his wife had two daughters (?) whom we have no record of, other than that they existed. They apparently remained in England while Thomas and Ada left for America. If any of this story sounds familiar to you then we are probably related. There are several Teears in the US and maybe one of the Marks that you found is my nephew. If possible, could you tell me if there are many Teears over there. As family legend goes, the name was changed from La Tee Ars, or La Te Ears, or some such. Supposedly it goes back to the French as a meaning for "Door hanger." Which I suppose means that we were a family of carpenters. I would be very interested in chatting with you, please write back. Thank you!

Hello Brad!!

I am so glad to hear from you!! I am Adaline Teears Freund's daughter. Her computer is out of commission right now so I am responding to her emails, etc for her on my computer.

Around September of last year I found your family tree information on Genealogy.com. There was an email supplied with it but I have been unable to use it because it comes back address unknown. We have lots of information on the Teears family. My grandfather was Charles Teears, Elsie's brother.

In fact, I live in Washington Township (Turnersville) New Jersey, so I am close (in distance) to some members of your family. My mother and I are very interested in sharing information with you. You can email me at CAC10261@cs.com or you can snail mail me at home. I would rather email my address to you than post it here, so email me for it.

Hi Bill,

I am hoping that you just did not see the other message yet. I was afraid that you thought I was not Adaline. I do remember writing to you from elementary school, back in 1943. I know I told you a lot about my trips back and forth to Shriners' Hospital in Philadelphia to have surgeries on my club foot and my ankle. My parents still lived in Camden in the same house until 1973. I moved not that far away from there. I am still in New Jersey. I hope you see this message soon. I really would like to chat with you and catch up on things.

Adaline
