There are two Teegarden Cemeteries.

The New Teegarden Cemetery is located beside the Teegarden Church on ST RT 47 between Ansonia and Union City in Darke County, Ohio.

The Old Teegarden Cemetery is located on the corner of ST RT 49 and Ansonia-Elroy Rd. It is about a mile south of the New Teegarden.

You can look up the Teegarden Cemeteries on www.dco.org too.
I think it gives maps.

I don't know anything about any Prebbles or Pribbles. I will ask my aunt if she knows.
Darke County is north of Preble County. Maybe there is a connection there.

Teegarden, Henrietta (Hannah?) and John E. Valliant b MD (son HUGH)

Working on my own family research, I ran across a link that might help someone. A HUGH VALLIANT died in Pulaski Co MO and his parents were named as John E Valliant b. MD and Henrietta TEEGARDEN. I saw one ancestry posting where someone named the mother 'Hannah' but I suppose Hannah could be a nickname for Henrietta. Here is the descendant information if it helps anyone. Hugh Valliant (s/o Henrietta Teegarden) had many children and I do not have them all listed here. He moved around a lot but was in Jackson Co KS, then Bazine, Ness Co KS in 1910 (incorrectly enumerated as Vallienvet living w/ McComas), then they moved to Pulaski Co MO by 1920. Hugh Valliant died 2 Jan 1916 in Pulaski Co. MO. His death cert naming parents is available online through SOS MO. His wife Susan F (Steele) Valliant and several of their children moved again with the Sanders McComas family to El Reno, Canadian Co OK. l last found her age 93 there. See below:

Sanders W. McCOMAS b. Nov 1869 KS m.ca. 1899 Elitha Ellen VALLIANT b. Jan 1874 IA. d. 9 June 1946 Canadian Co. OK. Elitha was the daughter of Hugh Valliant b. 28 Aug 1840 OH and his wife Susan F. Steele b. Aug 1846 IA or MO (she stated both). Sanders McComas was the sole survivor of his family following a series of tragedies of consumption. Sanders was just 12 when he was completely orphaned, both parents now deceased. His brothers would have been 10 and 8 at the time. No doubt the 3 young boys were taken in by one of the relatives in Jackson Co. KS. He married at the age of 29 in 1899 and was living with his new wife Elitha (Valliant) and firstborn Frank in Jackson Co KS in 1900. They must have had a bit of wanderlust in them as they moved around a lot after that. In March 1905 he was in Missouri (possibly visiting McComas relatives.) By 1910 however, he moved to Bazine, Ness County KS and is found living with his in-laws. Hugh Valliant age 69, his wife Susan F.Valliant age 64, and William S. Valliant age 29, their son. By Jan 1920 he has moved the family again and is found working as a Decorator in Crocker City, Tavern Twp, Pulaski Co. MO with the whole family still together and his widowed mother-in-law Susan F. Valliant, now age 78 living with them. Her husband Hugh Valliant died on Jan 2 1916 from chronic valvular heart disease while they were still living in Pulaski Co. MO. His death cert stated he was born Aug 28 1840 and that his father was John E. Valliant of MD and his mother Henrietta Teagarden. It appeared the body was to be shipped back to Bothen (?) MD. Sanders McComas and family (and mother in law Susan Valliant) then moved by April 1930 to El Reno,Canadian Co. OK where other McComas family members were living (children and grandchildren of Wm Burke McComas.) I also found the youngest child of the Valliant children also living in El Reno, Canadian Co. OK in the 1920 census: John E. Valliant. And her son Kirk Valliant died June 1968 in El Reno, Canadian Co. OK., so some of her children followed her and the McComas family into OK on the last move. Kirk Valliant's wife, Florence R. Dick b. 24 Feb 1889 d. 4 July 1978 whom he married in Jackson Co. KS is buried in Holton Cemetery, Jackson Co. KS. Sanders McComas was now 60, Elitha 56. One of the daughters, Mary, had married and had a child but lived in her fathers household, and Susan Valliant, his mother-inlaw was still alive at 93. Sanders listed himself as Painter, Paperhanger and his son in law as Decorator, so I suspect they were in business together. Sanders W. McComas and his wife Elitha Ellen (Valliant) McComas and several children are buried in El Reno Cemetery, Canadian Co. OK.
Sanders and Elitha (Valliant) McComas had:
Frank W. McCOMAS b. 4 Feb 1900 KS d. 16 Feb 1990 El Reno, Canadian Co. OK(still single Jan 1920) Gone from home in 1930. Buried El Reno Cem. Canadian Co. OK
Mary F. McCOMAS b.18 July1903 KS d. 28 Feb 1991 in Duncanville, Dallas Co. TX m. 1929 Raymond MUSSER b. 28 Dec 1903 MO d. 10 May 1989 in Dallas, Dallas Co. TX. He worked as a ‘decorator’, no doubt with his father-in-law painter/paperhanger. Lived with father in law 1930.
Mary and Raymond Musser had:
John B MUSSER b. 27 Feb 1928 IA d. 28 June 2002 in Enid,
Garfield Co. OK (SS# issued in TX)
Alice E. McCOMAS b.1 Dec 1905 KS d. 18 Jan 1990 in El Reno, Canadian Co. OK.(still single 1930 living at home and working as a stenographer at Yukon Mill.) Buried El Reno Cem. Canadian Co OK
Edward H. McCOMAS b.2 Jan 1909 KS d. 3 Nov 2001 in El Reno, Canadian Co. OK (still single 1930 living at home and working as a clerk in the railroad yards.)

My information comes from Cherrie Russell Olson as she provided much of the data.
Zuella Estella Gray (nee Teegarden) b.31Dec1863 married William Thomas Gray (7Feb1856) in Howard Co., MO. ishow they had 5 children the last of these was Bessie Estella Gray (1882-1962). She married William Ernest Tracy.
Mary Ann Teegarden b.22Sep1853 Melinda Teegarden b.28Jul1851 Eliza H. Teegarden b.4Jan1858

I would hope that you could confirm much of this information.

I descend from a totally different line of the Teegardens.

I am told, by family tradition, that the name "teegarden" comes from a German word meaning or related to the word "farmer." Abraham or Ibraham Teegarden (with an older spelling, something like Teguten) came to the United States from Germany with the name. I'll try to see if I can learn more.

Thanks for your quick reply. Have you ever heard of a book "A Genealogy of Charles Wesley Breece and Mary James (Mills) Breece, Their Descendants and Collateral Lines, A Series of Ancestral Charts With Biographical Data, 74 Generations from Mark Antony", written by Charles A Breece and apparently published in 1960? Charles A. would have been Florence's brother, and of course, Charles Wesley and Mary Mills Breece their parents. I would desperately like to get a copy of this book, if it truly exists, and it must. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. And, as I said, I have ancestry information on Florence, et al if you're interested. You can email me direct at rcbas401@aol.com if you'd like. Thanks... Ray

James McKown and Phoebe Casto were the parents of the two McKown sisters who married Aaron and Job Teegarden. Another one of their siblings Isaac McKown also migrated to Ray County, Missouri, with the Teegardens. The spelling you will most often find is "McKown." Sometimes the records use "McCown." I have almost never seen "McGown" except in the Teegarden book. Of course, some the descendants decided to change things around a bit. That is how my grandfather Clarence ended up as "McKowen" whereas his brother James Edgar remained a "McKown."

I have a great deal of information on the Teegardens and the Pribbles back to Christian Tegarten (1650-1702) and Thomas Preble (1662-1704).
My great-grandmother was Effie Mae Teegarden.
Her parents were George Teegarden and Rachel Lavina Miller.
Her grandparents were George Teegarden and Sarah Teel.
Her great-grandparents were George Teegarden and Rachel Pribble.
Her great great-grandparents were Abraham Tiegarden/Mary Parker and Thomas Prebble III/Mary Elizabeth Tiegarden (sister of Abraham). Yes, Rachel and George were first cousins.
Her 3rd great-grandparents were Abraham Tegarden/Anna Margaretha Albrecht and John Stephen Prebble/Nancy Ann Gallion. This is the generation of Teegardens that immigrated from Germany.
Her 4th great-grandparents were Christian Tegarten/Maria Tilmans and Thomas Preble/Mary Bucknell.
The Teegarden name was originally Tegart and even Degart and Deckert are researchable spellings.
If you want more contact me at elcamino@smithsys.net.
Pati Escamilla

One of my maternal great grandmothers was Effie Mae Teegarden who married Thomas O'Rich in 1885.
Although I have her line back to Christian Tegart in the 1600s, I have only somewhat proved back to 1735 when the family immigrated to America from the Palatine.
E-mail your mailing address to me at elcamino@smithsys.net.
I have very limited information that I am
related to Teegardens from Andrews, Ind.
According to my aunt, she used to go to family reunions that included Holdrens, Wintrodes, Beauchamps and Teegardens.
Some tie in with Lauretta Holdren who married
John Lafayette Teegarden DOB 11/2/1841 AND
Mary Ann Holdren who married Hiram Teegarden
5/17/1863. Does anyone have any information
that would tie these families together.
My GGGrandfather was John Holdren who was married to Ruth Wintrode.

Sorry for the late return. Zuella Estella Teagarden was my GGrandmother. She married William Thomas Gray I believe in Boone Co MO. They moved to the Armourdale area of Kansas City KS about 1900. They had 5 children: Helen, Anna, Bessie (my Grandmother) Alfred Wayne and Arthur LeRoy.Bessie married William Ernest Tracy and they had 5 children: Keith,Thomas, LeRoy (my father) Gerald and Eleanor. My father married Wilma Wagner dau. of William Henry Wagner and Rilla Kate Pollard. I have more, if you would like I can Email dates and info on the Gray and Tracy families. I have a picture of Estella, William Gray and 3 daughters. The girls appear to be in their early 20's. I can copy it and send it regular mail if you would like. I would certainly like anything you have on the Teagardens.
Thank You, Don Tracy

I am a member of the Teegarden family descended from Abraham Tegarden who arrived in America on 1 Sept 1736. This family is detailed in the book "Genealogy and Biographical Sketches of DESCENDANTS of ABRAHAM TEGARDEN from arrival in America [including European background]" by Helen Elizabeth Vogt, Berkeley, CA June 1967; Revised Edition published June 1988 by George and Shirley Teegarden. I got my copy through Amazon.com. but had previously connected my great-grandmother, Effie May Teegarden, to this family. In the book are mentioned several Sarahs under the surname spellings of Teagarden, Teegarden, Teegardin, and Tegarden, but none were from England. Sorry there wasn't a match. Pati

Yes, George Teegarden and Lavina Miller are my great great grandparents. Their names are listed on the marriage certificate of their daughter, Effie May Teegarden [1862-1898], my great grandmother. She married Thomas O'Rich Jr., of an Irish immigrant family, in 1885. He died between 1886 and 1891, and Effie married secondly Walter C. Flitcroft. Her first husband was a railroad worker and may have died of consumption. I think he may have passed it on to Effie and that is why she died at a young age. My grandmother, Ruby Del O'Rich is the product of the first marriage. She had a half brother, Ralph L. Flitcroft.
I have information on Effie's family going back to Christian Tegart or Tegarten [1650-1714] in Germany. I also have the Abraham Teegarden descendants book by Helen E. Vogt and updated in 1988 by George and Shirley Teegarden.
Hope this info helps you. If I can look up anything for you let me know. Pati

David Teegarden is listed as a 6th generation Missouri Teegarden in the book you speak of. My Great-Uncle Martin Teegarden started the research of our family tree that I am now in the process of trying to finish. I have only just begun. Anyway, as far back as he could get was David Teegarden, b. 16 Apr 1868 in Ray County Missouri and d. 26 June 1936. He married Carrie Elizabeth Riggs in 1893. According to the notes my Uncle Martin left. This lineage was not complete. I am interested in going back farther. If you have any leads, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Melanie

I have a great grandfather by the name of Kline Teegarden. He married Francis Williams. They had 2 daughters. They devoriced. Kline died in a fire in Elmira, Missouri (Ray co.?) in 1931. That is all I know of him. I was wondering if he is in your family tree anywhere.
Thank you for your time. And any help you can give.
Sunday Smith

I, also am looking for the teeguardens in Indiana.
My husband is Joseph Raymond Teeguarden but his
father, I am sure is Benjamine Franklin Teegarden.
My husband is 89 years old and I am trying to find out
how to connect. His father is buried in Ashboro and he has
the same uncles. I am new at this and I don't understand
about threads and how to receive my messages.
Most of his relatives are from Colfax. We are in Indianapolis.
Why is Marion County not Marion County and what
does living mean when in the children.
Gee, I would thank you so much if you could help me.

My e-mail is mguarden@cyberstreet.com. I know how
to put up web pages. I might like to do even that to
help. Maybe have an Indiana Teegarden page.

Where are you?

Marilynn Teeguarden

"Descendants of Abraham Tegarden" by Helen E. Vogt. It's available thru special order at Borders.

Quote from "Descendants of Abraham Tegarden"
According to family tradition, Freeman, William R. and John enlisted together for the Civil War and during service, record clerks spelled the name with a "u" and all three brothers continued with that spelling after the war. Freeman was a Union soldier, enlisted 9/16/1861 in Co.G, 36th Rgt.Ind.Vol.Inf.; discharged as Sgt 9/21/1864, described as 5'8" tall, brown hair and eyes and a farmer.

About 1875, with William R. Teeguarden(b. Feb 16, 1843) and Francis Teeguarden (b. Oct 03, 1853), he settled in Colfax, IN, where they operated and owned a machine shop, saw mill and threshing businesss. Freeman and William R. patented the first Safety Corn Shredder.

End Quote

I have GEDCOM file available for your line. I will be setting up Teegarden family tree on MYFAMILY.com. for all te?gard?ns.
