Mr. Simeon Teel was born in Union County, Ohio, March 23rd, 1820, and died at his home, two miles southwest of Osceola, on March 6th, 1888, aged 67 years, 11 months and 23 days.
When 8 years of age he came with his parents from Ohio where he resided till 1851. In 1843 he was united in marriage with Mary NOFFSINGER who has ever since been his loving, devoted companion and helpmeet. He was converted in 1843 and united with the United Brethren church of which he was a faithful earnest worker till death transferred him to the church triumphant above, to wear the crown of eternal life and sing the song of the redeemed. In 1851, he, with his family, moved to Iowa, where he remained two years. In 1853, he returned to Indiana and bought the place on which he lived till his death. His death was the first in the family.
He was an affectionate husband, a kind loving father and an excellent neighbor. He had been ill for a long time and said he was only waiting for the death angel to bear him home.
He leaves a wife and seven daughters, Mrs. E.L. FINNEY, of South Bend, Mrs. A.H. DOOLITTLE, of Willow Creek, Mrs. J.H. DOOLITTLE, of Mishawaka, Mrs. S. PATTERSON and Mrs. E.W. KIZER, of Osceola, Miss Ella and Miss Edith, and a son, William, to mourn their loss.
Rev. Mr. CLEAVER, of Elkhart, conducted the funeral services, which were held at the Baptist church.
