My GG Grandfather was Thomas Jefferson Tennison. His daughter Della Mae is my Great Grandmother. There may or may not be information we can share, but I thought it worth a try. I am most interested in finding out who Joseph S. Tennison parents are.

George Thomas Tennison and Caroline Jean Lewis

I am researching a thread of the Samuel Paden family -> Elizabeth Jane Paden married Lotspiech Sydney Lewis -> John Milton Lewis married Lizzie Coleman -> John Christopher Lewis married Josephine Short -> Caroline Jean Lewis married George Thomas Tennison in Oklahoma (probably Grady County)in 1934. They had at least one child, George T. Jr. in 1935. George Jr. married Darlene Ann Lehmann in 1970 in Texas and they had a child, George T, III. I noted that a Wayne L Tennison married a Caroline J Lehmann in May 1976. Both marriages took place in Harris County, Texas, as did the deaths of George T, Sr. and George T. Jr. as well as Caroline J Lewis Tennison. Can anyone confirm the connection of George and Wayne as brothers?

The amazing thing is that 'my' AJ was one of several children, and himself had 13! The other thing is that these Dennises evidently didn't know alot of names... :-) IT appears they use the same names over and over. Your AJ comes along easily as a nephew, in all probability. I will continue to look it over and if Joseph or William appear, let you know!

Regards!
BD

Howdy,

Given the date of Feb 1833 I doubt that there is a connection between these two Andrew J Dennis' as mine was born 1865.

Here is the puzzle I am trying to sort out. For many years I had, what I thought a strong connection, to a Samuel Dennis, born 1737, VA - the line went like this -

Samuel G Dennis, 1737, VA
Samuel G Dennis Jr, 1757, VA
Jesse Dennis, 1803, KY
Joseph H Dennis, 1827, KY
William Isaac Dennis, 1852, KY
William H Dennis, 1884, KY
Clyde C Dennis, 1907, KY
Me, 1938, OH

DNA testing has probably disconnected me from the first two fellows and maybe the third in this list. Joseph H is OK but I cannot connect him with the Tennison/Dennis group from North Carolina and Overton Tennesee. I am sure this is where I fit as my DNA matches several guys who are connected to the John Tennison/Dennis from this area.

If you are aware of a Joseph Dennis born around 1820/30 and somehow connected to the NC/TN bunch I would love to have that info!

Thanks for your offer of info and pictures, but I do not see a relationship here since our Andrews are so far apart in birth dates.

Carl

Jack
I have been trying to find a link between the poet Tennyson and my own Family tree, (my grandmothers maiden name was Tennyson. In both cases I have two trees (family & Poet) they both run back to 1700s in the ER Yorkshire, Holderness Peninsular. To date I have not made the connection, but it would seem that the villages of Preston or Hedon are very likely. Can you help in resolving this 5 year search.

Alan Noon

I have always accepted the John and Peggy Tennison information until I realized that Peggy had to have been 9 years old when son Thomas was born. More research needs to be done to establish the corrent dates. Help anyone????

Looking for parents: Sarah Alice Tennison/1867-1933/Texas

Looking for more information regarding the parents of Sarah Alice Tennison. She was most likely born in Kansas May 9, 1867 and died in McAdoo, Dickens County Texas on Sept 25, 1933.

She married William Lewis Tullos in Comanche County, Texas on Oct 19, 1884. They had 8 children and lived in Comanche, San Saba and Lampasas Counties during their lifetime.

On Sarah's death certificate, her father was listed as Levi Tennyson, and her mother was only listed with the maiden name of SEALS.

I had found a Levi Tennison married to an Elizabeth Jane Scales that had a daughter Sarah born about the same time as my Sarah in OWT. However, that Sarah had married a Rumsey, so these cannot be the parents of my Sarah.

I found some info on Margaret's age.
1850 Indiana cencus, Warrick county
Margaret was 59 years old and born in Va and a widow. This
would mean she was born abt 1791--the right age for John Tennison's wife.
Living with her were 2 girls Mary J (age 16) and
Margaret (age 5). The younger Margaret has probably
caused the confusion in her age.
