Hello,
I believe my grandmother changed the spelling from Termini to Termine. My grandfather came the the U.S. through New Orleans, and moved to Independence, L.A. where he met my grandmother. They moved to Los Angeles, then to Murrieta, CA.

Maybe we are related?! Please feel free to e mail me at
charlesjensen5493@sbcglobal.net
Thanks for the info.

Re: Termini - Sicily

My maternal grandfather was CHARLES VINCENT TERMINI from Sicily [who married MYRA MARIE TALWICK (sp?/Polish)]; both were born in the late 1890's. Some of his brothers' families settled in NewOrleans, but my grandparents wound up living mainly in Hammond, Indiana. Previously they had resided briefly in Oklahoma City, where my mother & her twin, JOSEPHINE ANNETTE (m. Robert Royce Perigo) & VIVIAN ANTOINETTE TERMINI (m. Ray Oliver Rupert) were born in 1917, followed a year later by brother MELVIN TERMINI. Granny said she was often startled by Oklahoman "wild Indians" peeping in her window to see the novelty of identical twins...
They're all gone now, but several descendents' kinfolk remain, tho we're scattered around! Does anybody out there recognize a connection?

P.S.: I recently corrected a mis-spelling on www.ancestry.com, where they had our TERMINI ending with an E instead of an I (on Zoom, it was also clearly a dotted-'I').

Joan Elayne (Perigo-)Smith.
I see that you spell Termini with an "e" on the end. I also noticed that you mention a passager list for ships coming into New Orleans. My late mother has passenger lists for ships coming into New Orleans probably about the time you are referring to. This CD is still available and you can get more information about it if you email RBoykin995@aol.com. It is called "Birds of Passage". My mother did a lot of work on our family history. My great-grandmother was a "Termini". They settled in the Galveston, Texas area.

Good luck with your research. I plan to take up my mother's research in the next few months.

Hi Jaime,
Nice to meet you too, and I do remember your Mom. Aunt Alice is in an assisted living facility and doing well. My wife and I went to Sicily and visited Piana degli Albanesi, the town Nana (Sara) Termine was from. It was quite an experience, but didn't meet any relatives, unfortunately. Saw some grave stone markers with the Candiotta name, however. I'd like to share some Candiotta info with you if you'd like. I also found a lady with the same last name living in Texas who has also been to Sicily, and we have been e mailing.

It would be fun so share info, so let's keep in touch.
thanks,
chuck

Sam Termine is my great grandfather, Sam Termine III is my grandfather. Per his daughter in law, Alice Termine, married to his son Victor, Salvatore Termine II came to america via New York. Ellis Island web site shows his arrival on May 6,1906 as Salvatore Termine, age 16, departed from Palermo and sailed on the "IL Piemonte". Alice said she saw his Ellis Island paperwork and believes she still has it somewhere.
I have been able to find some info on the Candiotta family, the spelling of the last name in Louisiana is Candiota.
I will be happy to share any info I have.
I haven't been able to track down his nationalization info yet, Alice said he and Sarah became citizens sometime around 1950's.
Jaime
The Ellis Island records my family was Rome' not Romeo. My great grandfather's brother Vincenzo Romeo was married to Carmela Tiranno. I am sure that they are not the same person. Presently, there is aVincenzo Rome in Canicatti . His information is: Vincenzo Rome' Viale Regina Elena N9, 92024 Canicatti (AG) Tel# 0922853378. I met him when I visited Canicatti. He is a very nice gentlemen but doesn't speak any English. He may have information about your family.Good luck in your search.

Hi Rita,
The information you have is correct. My grandfather was the man your mother knew. His name was Diego (Dick) Stincone, he was married to Frances and he was in the shoe business. We all lived in Brooklyn. I lived with them in a two family house.
The Carmela( Millie) and Peter Stincone are the same people from Astoria that you knew. The originally information I gave you on Rosaria Gardina and Diego Stincone were Peter's parents are they your grandparents?
