Hi Carol,

I've an Emma Tester on my tree who is believed to have been born in the Forest Row?East Grinstead area but all That I know about her at present is that she had a daughter Mary Susannah, who was born in the Reigate/Redhill area. Do you have any info at all on them please?

Do you have anything at all on a Mary Susannah Tester and her mother Emma?
Emma was born in the East Grinstead area but Mary in the Reigate, Surrey area. She married Thomas Kent in 1889 when she already had three childre, William, George and John.

Hello Michele, I'm sorry but I don't think our Tester's are linked, judging by the christian names you have typed I don't have any of these names on my tree. I get the feeling that you are in America & I don't know of any Tester's in my tree that went to the states, all my people seemed to have been born & died in Sussex,UK. I am completely stuck and I would be so grateful for some help.

Janie Tester (b.1884 Tandridge Surrey) daughter of John Tester (b. Lindfield, Sx) & Jane Maud Gunter, married Sidney King in Horsham, Sussex in 1904...and then they disappear. I can't find either of them on the 1911 census.

Can anybody suggest what else I could try?

I may regret contacting you from the standpoint I do not know to much about our relatives. My brother, Wayne Maclin Newman, Jr. knows quite a bit.
I had time and googled my grand mother's name, Virgie Mae (Delp) Tester and stumbled onto your posting.
My grandfather, Andrew Howard Tester, his father is Wilburn Wiley Tester.

I'm trying to find out Elizabeth Tester's maiden name. She was married to Smith Tester and was born sometime around 1873. She and Smith had five children: Dewey Tester, Lonnie Tester, Lula Tester, Vera Tester, Anna M Tester, Freddie, Minnie Tester, Ethie Tester, Davie or Duoey Tester.

Please help if you can...I'm her Great, Great Grandaughter.

Hi, have you discovered anything new about Benjamin Tester?
My gggrandmother was Tabitha Fortner Hackworth. She was the daughter of Mary Fortner who married Benjamin Tester in Ashe Co., NC. Mary was apparantly a widow with a 2-3 year-old daughter (Tabitha) at the time of the marriage (1827 or so). The marriage record is on the internet in Ashe Co. info. The families of Benjamin Tester and Jacob Fortner traveled together, so I suspect that Jacob was Mary's brother. Mary Fortner Tester died early 1880 in Fayette Co., KY.

I am also descended from Robert Tester and Mary Stone Tester. Do you have information that goes back beyond them. I have hints of a Nathaniel Tester who left Ireland, but no hard evidence and no spouse for Nathaniel.

I am researching an offshoot of the Tester family generating from Sussex England.

William Tester abt 1842 and Hannah (formerly Heasman) abt 1842 had, amongst others a son:
James Tester 1867 who married Martha abt 1870 (formerly Kemp)

James & Martha had the following children:
Catherine abt 1891
Josheph abt 1893
Lucy abt 1895
Hannah abt 1898
James abt 1899
Martha abt 1901
William abt 1903
Frederick abt 1905
Edith abt 1908
Alfred abt 1910
Bessie abt 1911

Most were born in the Forest Row, Ne Easr Grinstead area but have connections with Ashurst Wood and West Hoathley areas of Sussex.

George Tester b. 1874. London England

Looking for info on George Tester born 1874 in London England. Also his 1st born son George Tester 1894. Both served in WWI. George Sr. married Mary Ellen Coombes. Had 8 children. George, John Thomas, William, Mary Ellen Elizabeth Maud, Walter John, Horace Reginald, Frederick Richard, and James. Mary Ellen and 5 of the children emmegrated to Canada between 1921 and 1922.

My great great grandfather is Jesse Tester (middle name unknown) born around 1870. His father Isaac Tester (middle name unknown). I have no record of a Gladys Elsie Tester but I do have a Dorothy May Tester (born around 1900 died around 1995). My great grandfather is Albert Lewis Tester, brother to Dorothy May, so I dont have much information on her. I hope this helps, though I'm not sure if it's the same person.

This is a general question for anyone who has ideas...where do you search for family members of pre census times? Before 1850, census were head of house only and with numbers indicating how many children, etc....and what about the records that were destroyed by wars and fires? How can one find those? Have they been recreated?

I suspect that Augusta Fricke may have been a sister of William Fricke based on ages. Augusta's first husband Henry Schelp died in 1880.

After Robert's death all of the Smith, Schelp and Fricke descendants were listed in the probate. That was in 1972 I think.

My grandfather's sister Minnie, married Noah Weller. I have heard that everyone in Montgomery Co., IL is related.

My grandfather was Edward M Smith, son of William Schmidt (Smith) and Hannah Schelp.

Augusta Fricke married Henry Schelp. They had one son Robert. When Robert died without a will there was a probate. Lydia was mention along with others. I would like anyy inforation about her and her family that you would like to share.

I have a little more info now - Anna Tester married Alexander Wilson in Hawkwell, Essex in 1852. Anna's father is listed as John Tester, a Teacher.

oopsie...john w isn't my grandfather, he is the younger brother of my gg grandfather william, who isn't on the census with the others...my line goes benjamin, william, john,(i think he was named after john w), then my dad Orlan Tester...can't wait to compare notes.

Researching Elizabeth Tester, father James, mother Mary Comber. Elizabeth married William Harborough (Harbrow) 1935. Migrated to Australia 1842. Children Frances, Ezelpher, Jacob, James, William, Eliza, Jemima,Ezekiel,Henry, Matthew and Mary

I have looked into my family tree entries and I have all of these decendants. I would love to get more information on all of the people if you are able to share these with me.

I am baffled as to a comment which is made in the request above in regards to dates for marriage and the dates of Migration. They seem to be around the wrong way? Is this possible.

I know the date of your request was back in 1993 so I do hope you are still a member at ancestry or you know someone that could help me.

Seek info on Margaret Tester's parents. Margaret was born ca 1806 in Virginia and died 1889 in Kansas. She married John C. Mollenhour in 1828 in Hocking Co., OH. They had 7 children: William, Henry, Catherine, James, Rebecca, George, Sarah. Margaret's obituary states she was a native of VA, but early life was spent in Ohio.

Kem, My grandfather is John H. Tester from Tennessee. I have a paper that I just opened to read today from my uncle John L. Tester from Florida. It is about Richard R Tester and Rebecca Jackson. If you want I can scan it and send it to you. I don't have much info on the Testers. I have been researching Lee's (my father's family) for a number of years and never got to my mom's side. We descend from Alfred Ernest Tester b. 1874 Herne Bay. Alfred married Florence Mark, had 2 daughters (Ellen b. 1903 and Florence b. 1904) and emigrated to Ontario Canada abt.1909. Alfred's parents George Tester b. 1836 and Ellen Elizabeth Watson b. 1841 married Jan. 24 1860 in Christchurch, Herne Bay. Interested in finding out more about George's parents John and Jane Tester. Located widow Jane and son George in 1851 Census, but have been unable to locate them in 1841.

Lydia D.Fricke was born 08 Mar 1899 in Raymond Twp., Montgomery Co., IL.,she died 17 Oct 1992 in Nokomis, IL. Her parents where William C.Fricke and Mollie Weller. Weller is my husbands connection to this family. Lydia married Earl Tester on 26 Jul 1925. He was born in 1895 and died 31 Mar 1989. His parents where Frank Tester and Anna Johnson. Lydia had a sister Mary who was married to a Glenn Tester, who was a brother to Earl. I do not have Augusta in my file because we have no connection to her, but if you need anything else let me know. I live in Montgomery Co. So if you need a look up. I will be glad to help.

I am Kevin Testerman. Our family surname was Tester until about 1940. It was changed by my father Newton Tester. My grandfather was Jacob O. Tester from Irvine, Ky. He was born in 1880. My great-grandfather's name was also Jacob O. Tester, born about 1841 in Ky.

I have details of the family of George Tester and Ellen Elizabeth Watson and their ten children.

George was the youngest brother of my g.g. grandmother Emma b. 1829

Unfortunately, no-one seems to be able to find the family on the 1841 census, it's driven me crazy and so many people have looked!

The Testers I'm interested in were living in Sevenoaks, Brenchley, Pembury and surrounds, Kent England in 1700s and 1800s. Many migrated to Australia in the late 1800s.
