Nathaniel TEVIS (ca. 1770/75, MD - 1818, Madison Co., KY) m. 8 Aug. 1797, [Richmond, Madison Co., KY, MR 1:45] Nancy BURGIN (ca. 1775 - 1841, Madison Co., KY). Nancy was dau/o Mary & Isaac BURGIN [Madison Co., Wills A:26]. Nancy m1. 4 June 1792 [Madison Co., 1:3], Benjamin HARRIS, and had three HARRIS children [W. H. MILLER, History & Genealogies, Richmond, KY].

Nathaniel made his will 10 Mar. 1818, and it was proved 10 Oct. 1818. It named all of his children [Madison Co. Wills B:473].

Snoden TEVIS (1801, Madison Co., KY - 27 Dec. 1853, Moniteau Co., MO, [ts, Old Cem., Tipton, MO]), m. 1823, Susannah MORRIS (ca. 1805, NC - 20 Nov. 1852, Moniteau Co., MO), d/o Margaret & Hammond MORRIS [probate of Hammond MORRIS, #941 Cooper Co., MO]. The marriage record hasn't been found, but the first child was b. Jan. 1824, per Portrait & Bio. Record of Johnson & Pettis Cos., MO, (Chicago:Chapman, 1895, p. 152).

Snoden's probate file is at California, Moniteau Co., MO, #3206. It names his children, including Hebrew.

The will of Robert TEVIS, 1796, MD, was signed by F. SNOWDEN. However, the will of Snoden's father Nathaniel, 1818, spelled the son's name Snoden, and the tombstone says Snoden. Later members of the family spelled the name Snowden.

Nathaniel signed his will TIVIS, & Snoden spelled his name TIVIS. Some of his children spelled the name TEVIS, but Silas, Shadrack, & Hammond used TIVIS.
