He was born in Germany and married Louise (unknown last name). They had 5 boys, and 1 girl....William, Otto, Eric, Henry, George, and Mary (Married name Engel. All the children were born in Germany, I believe except George. The family immigrated to America, eventually settling in Alto township, WI. When they came through immigration, the name got changed to Tavs. They came to america about 1884.
