3/7/2002 - LAKEWOOD — Nancy T. Kelsey, 76, of 224 E. Terrace Ave., died at 8:55 p.m. Thursday (March 7, 2002) in WCA Hospital. She was born July 10, 1925, in Jamestown, a daughter of William and Katharine Kahler Whittle. She was employed by Reeds Jewelers in Lakewood as a saleswoman. She was a member of Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion Auxiliary, Mayville Post 8647 Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club. She enjoyed traveling, playing cards and antiquing. She is survived by three daughters: Suzanne Thayer of Portland, Ore., Margaret ‘‘Peggy’’ Young of Rutland, Vt., and Katharine ‘‘Blanche’’ Milliman of Mayville; three sons: William Thayer of Las Vegas, Steven Thayer of Mayville and Jack Thayer of Westfield; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister Hildreth Collins of Mayville. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William A. Thayer, whom she married Aug. 16, 1946, and who died Oct. 3, 1978; her second husband, Howard Kelsey, whom she married Dec. 18, 1983, and who died April 18, 1996; and a sister Margaret ‘‘Peggy’’ Kraemer. The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. Bill Ward will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday and for one hour prior to the service Monday in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to World War II Memorial, c/o American Battle Monuments Commission, P.O. Box 96766, Washington, D.C., 20090-6766.
