My father has an Aunt Dorothy, and Lloyd Thayer runs in my family as well. I`m not sure of the connection there. But my Grandfather was Douglas Thayer, married to Edith Thayer - six children - Ron, Valerie, Garry, Wayne, Lori & Paul.

Hi John, You contacted me before when you had the netscape.net E-mail address. I can tell you that Sally Thayer, the daughter of Samuel Thayer (11 Jan 1761 - 8 Jan 1838) and his wife, Abigial Cobb, died 29 October 1872 in Windsor, Berkshire, MA. Massachusetts Vital Record for Sallly: "SINGLE, old age, age 82," so I am still not convinced this Sally was the wife of Francis Tribou. Sally (born 31 Jul 1789 in Abington) was still single in 1829 (when she was age 40).

See North Berkshire, MA Deeds 35-184: Samuel Thayer of Windsor (Sally's father) to Timothy Thayer of Windsor (Sally's brother). Timothy sells or mortages 1/2 of said farm and "I agree that Sally my sister shall have a home thereon as long as she is single and Samuel (father) and Abigail (mother) to have a home for life, agreed on same day. 24 December 1829.

I do have a Sally Witherill who was born about 1796 of Attleboro, Bristol, MA who was married briefly on 7 Mar 1816 to Charles THAYER. I had assumed that she died, but perhaps not.

I also have Sally THAYER, born 15 Aug 1784 in Hingham, Plymouth, MA, the daughter of Timothy THAYER ane Hannah MARSH for whom I have no further information. I would suggest that you attempt trying to find more about these two women. You may also wish to contact my assistant, Jerry Thayer, at HJThayer@aol.com. Happy hunting, Patricia Thayer Muno, Thayer Family Historian

Sarah Green and Lowell V. Starbird from Otisfield, ME

Saw your posting about the Benjamin Green book. Sarah Green was my gggrandmother on my paternal father's side. She and her husband, Lowell V. Starbird were born in Otisfield as were their children. Could there possibly be any information about Lowell's parents or siblings in that book? I have come to a complete standstill in my search for the Starbird ancestors. If you are a direct descendant of the Green family, then you and I are distant cousins. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Ada

Noted artist FRANCIS "BARRY" BARRETT FAULKNER, Who knew
ABBOTT HANDERSON THAYER was a cousin of his. BARRY's grandmother was CAROLINE (HANDERSON)FAULKNER and I am guessing this is how they were related. Wondering if you might know how these two famous artists connect?

Lisa I trace my Thayer roots to Chautauqua too. There were several Thayer's living in Chaut. in the 1800's. My line is Joseph Thayer a Rev. War Vet who married Abigail Sackett. Their son Joseph married Mercy Atwell and they had one son, Joseph who married Clarissa Swift. There was a Lemuel Thayer living in Chaut. Co in the 1800's. I believe he was a brother of Joseph Rev. War soldier. Lemuel and Lucy Brownson Thayer had a son William who was born in 1773. This is probably too early for your grandfather. I haven't been working with this branch of the family for a long time but I do recall there is a lot of information about Thayers in Chautauqua i.e. Fredonia Censor (newspaper) has an index of marriages that appeared in the paper. Also check NY census 1885, 1895,1900 etc.

Re: Ceil Thayer (Smith)(Sept 14 1900)

This is such a weird response. Last night, I was cleaning my basement and came across a card that Ceil Smith Thayer made me. It was written to the "Other Ceil" from Ceil for my 3rd birthday in 1973. Why this card was laying out in the middle of my basement is beyond me.It was like a ghost picked up and put it in the middle of a clean room for me to see. Besides, it was something I saved and packed upsome 20 years ago! Anyway, my dad is David Jones and resides in Wickliffe, Ohio. He met Ceil Smith Thayer in his beginning writing years and she groomed him throughout his writing career. I am named after her (Laura Ceil Jones). She passed away when I was 18, but she wrote to me thoughout my life and I remember has a remarkably sprite, cunning (not bad), brilliant and expressive woman. My Dad can tell you much, much more!
