Just looking for ancestors, and came upon your thread from 2000. Just in case you have not as yet found any information I have some. My husband's deceased cousin was also a child of Joseph Hector Therrien, which would make you a cousin. He is the child of Hector's sister, Edith Veronica Gero. Please contact me if you are still interested in this history

Re: THERRIEN FAMILY IN LYNN, MASSACHUSETTS Early 1900's

Due to the date that your Joseph A Therrien left Canada, the only census that would include him is the 1881. The name Joseph Therrien was/is very common. He could have come from several different provinces as the American census takers stated that anyone who was French came from French Canada regardless of where in Canada they came from. There could be hundreds of Joseph Therriens born in Canada in 1873 +- 5 years. There is no more information to narrow down the options. I suggest that you get a marriage record for Joseph and Annette that will provide you with parents names and hopefully place of birth. A marriage record will solve your brickwall.

I've only been able to locate this family in the 1920 & 1930 Census. Here's what I have:
JOSEPH A. THERRIEN (b. ca. 1873) is married to ANNETTE H. They were both "naturalized" in 1895.
They had several children...all born in Massachusetts...some of them are...(there may have been more):
1. JENNETTE THERRIEN (b. ca. 1896) who married FREDERICK A. STOCKER, Jr. and had a son named FREDERICK A. STOCKER III. Jennette and Frederick later divorced.
2. MARIS A. THERRIEN (b. ca. 1898) who married a Mr. SMITH and was divorced by 1930.
3. ELEBETH THERRIEN (b. ca. 1899)
4. HENRY THERRIEN (b. ca. 1902)
5. LOUSE THERRIEN (b. ca. 1905 female
6. HELEN V. THERRIEN (b. ca. 1909)
7. CAMILE E. THERRIEN (b. ca. 1912) male...name also seen as CAMILLE.

I'm looking for more information on any of these family members...information that will go back in time to Canada and information about the descendant of these people. Thank you for any assistance and information you can pass along.

Does anyone know if Cleophus had a brother or cousin named Joseph Terrien living in the same area at the same time? My great-grandmother, Gertrude Terrien/Therien married Amable Lecuyer on Oct 11, 1899 and the marriage was witnessed by Joseph Brisson and Flora Therien/Terrien in Allouez, Michigan. I believe they are related but don't have proof. Does anyone have information on Joseph Terrien married to Josephine Bohn from Prussia? Gertrude's parents were Joseph and Josephine Terrien. Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Therrien, Cleophas

Isn't this the same Cleophas Therrien seen on the 1880 census for Houghton Twp., Keweenaw County, MI (spelled Clovis Terrien at that time)? He was age 40, and married to a "Rosina" b. Michigan (parents b. Prussia), and had children: Rosina 10, Caroline 9, William 7, Joseph 5, Mary 3, and Joseph 1.

On the 1870 census, that Joseph lived in Copper Harbor, Keweenaw County, MI (spelled Clifes Tarrien), age 27. Wife Rosanna, age 21, b. Michigan Children: Celestine, age 3, and Rosanna, age 11 months.

In 1900, he was "Clefus Terrien", age 57, b. (doesn't know 1843) in Canada. He was a widower, living with daughter Rose (Terrien) Nadeau & her husband Louis in Laurium, Calumet Twp, Houghton County, Michigan.

Are you absolutely positive your Cleophas was married to a Rose Lavigne? That surname sounds unlike Prussian.

Antoine Therrien and Anastasie Castonguay

Hi all. I am looking for information on my great-great-great grandfather Antoine Therrien born April 11, 1832 in Quebec (except according to the 1881 census, it says he was born in the Queen Charlotte Islands of BC but I think this is an error). He would be from around the Vaudreuil, Quebec area. I am pretty sure his parents were Joseph Therrien and Marie Marguerite Pilon. He was a journalier and lived most of his life in Plantagenet, Ontario. Antoine died May 2, 1897. He had a sister named Justine. He married Anastasie Castonguay (parents unknown, if anyone has info that would be great) on January 23, 1855 in St-Michel, Vaudreuil, Quebec. I know they had 6 kids for sure, they may of had more: Elizabeth Therrien who married Julien Perrier (Poirier), Jean Baptiste Therrien who married Marie Louise Maille, Antoine Therrien who married Marguerite Daoust, Marie Josephe Therrien who married Narcisse Comtois, Emelie and Marcelline. They all lived in the Plantagenet, Alfred, Lefaivre areas in Ontario. I would love to know more about the Therrien's. Thanks.

Cheers,
Jennifer Perrier

Hello Marjorie,

In the Canadian 1881 Census, I think I have found Oliva Therien & Delima Therien - in addition among their neighbours in St-Cyprien, Napierville, Qc I may have found the Deneau relatives. Please note that Therien is with one "R" - and Deneau has no "LT" at the end. In this same community I found a Julien Deneau (71yrs) & Josephte Deneau (64 yrs). There is also an Alfred & Rosalie Deneau that might fit the bill. Can you write to my Email and I will send you the info. I do not belong to either family. Anne
