I am looking for information on Louise Eriphile Thibodaux. Born about 1863 She was the Great Grandaughter of Henry Schyler Thibodaux. The information I am looking for is who her parents and grandparents were... the missing link between her and HST. I descend twice from Henry Schuyler Thibodeaux, through his elder sons Leander and Aubin, children of his first marriage to Felicite Bonvillain. Much confusion has developed about Henry Schuyler's ancestry as a result of the association with the John Phillip Schuyler family. Even if Henry was rasied witht he Schuylers it would unusal for an orphan to be sent to Edinburgh University to study medicine as he was. His venture to Louisiana is also puzzling since he was not reared in the French language and had no close association with other Acadians. Although he was married in the Catholic faith we don't see much evidence of Catholic upbringing. He was buried in Half way cemetery on the southern extent of his holdings on Bayou Terreborne ( not a Church cemetery).

A search of the Schuyler records may contain some information as to why he was so favored by General Schuyler as to be educated at one of the foremost Universit
ies at that time in a country, and at a time, which would require some expense.

The usual portrait of Henry, based upon the heavily restored original in the possession of the Louisiana State Museum, may not in fact be that of Henry but one of the Bellanger family. There is a likeness of a man ca. 1825-7 that was done on a memorial card that may be Henry. It is now in the possession of descendants in Houma, Louisiana.

Documents relating to Henry Schuyler Thibodaux are to be found in the Court Houses of Lafourche and Terreborne Parishes. The oligraphic will of Henry is registered in Terreborne Parish.

Even the final burial place of Henry is open for debate. Although his original tomb is located in Halfway Cemetery, legends abound that his remains were removed to St Bridget Cemetery of St. Joseph Cemetery.

I havent seen your dad since Honey's funeral. Before that I saw him at my fathers funeral. I am married, and I have a beautiful little Blonde blue eyed baby girl that is now 19 months old. Her name is Tatum Marie Thibodaux. I also own my own small business since I lost my great paying career path in 2001. There is so much to catch up on I don't even know where to start.

I have a picture of Henry in my home. He is standing in front of a sign in Thibodaux, LA that was dedicated to him. My grandfather, Eugene Felton Thibodaux, gave it to me. I would love to scan it in if any of you are interested.

Hi Corey. My maiden name is Thibodaux and I think I might be related to you. I am Denny Thibodaux's daughter. My dad has four brothers, Donnie, Robin, Gene "Tippy", and Gary. My grandfather's name was Eugene Thibodaux and he passed away in 1996. Does this ring a bell? I am related to a Corey Thibodaux but I have not seen him in years. Is your mom Marilyn and your dad was Tibo? And great grandmother Honey?

A connection has been made thanks to one of our many distant cousins, my grandfather is a descendant of Leandre Bannon Thibodeaux, Henry Schuylers thibodeaux's First born son from his first marriage, Leandre's son Edmond Ademar (admard) Thibodeaux, had a son Armond Joseph Thibodeaux had son Lindsey Paul Thibodeaux which was my grandfathers Father. My grantfather Nolen Thomas was first born to Lindsey Paul and his wife Odile.

update information, Found 1930 Census with the spelling differnent, Lindsey Paul Thibodeaux, shows wife Mary and kids, Nolen is my grandfather, also found 1920 census with Lindsey's parents, Armond and Laura Thibodeaux, children Elmo 28 Harrick 22 Felicia 21 Adley 17 hazel 13 and a Wilbur Domanque 8, My mother remembers all but Elmo and Harrick.
Also have a possibly on Laura's name old paper has it hand written as Rogiers.
Would appreciate an email if anyone has any info on this line

Trying to connect the Thibodauxs of the late 1800's to Henry which was suppose to be my grandfathers great great grandfather. My grandfather has passed away and no one remembers any names. All I have so far is My Grandfathers names is Nolen Thomas Thibodaux born in la, His father was Linsey Paul Thibodaux Buried in Forest Park Lawndale cemetary Houston tx and Mother Mary Odile Buford, Buford could be mispelled. Possible mother of Linsey Paul Thibodaux is Laura Boudreaux.
If these names ring a bell would really appreciate an email.

Janet: Got your message and guess what? We are related closer than you might have thought. Your grandmother Mabel and my grandfather Edwin were twin brother and sister. I am a twin also. My mother, Annie Katherine Thibodaux was Edwin's oldest daugther. She passed away in 1990 at age 76. My aunts, Blanche 85, and Jane 82, your mother's 1st cousins and your second cousins live in Talladega, Alabama. My husband and son visited the city of Thibodaux during the summer of 2001. I have always been interested in our lineage to HST. I come from a family of 5 children, youngest sister (Debra 48 )lives in Arkansas, oldest sister (Kathy 54) lives in Talladega, brother Larry (55), twin sister (Jane 51) and myself all live in Birmingham, AL. Janet - I too am a Janet who is related to HST through Bannon Goforth Thibodaux - My grandmother, Mable Beulah Thibodaux Reed was his Goforth's great-granddaughter - i don't know which of Bannon's children she was related to but her father was Maribel Thibodaux and he was baptisted/christened in the home of his grandfather who was Bannon Goforth in Washington, D.C. - are so I am told by my mother - as near as i can figure it - HST was my great-great-great-great-great grandfather - that's a lot of greats i know but i suppose somehow we are related?

Our family is from Louisiana and we have an oral history that HST is a great uncle, but I have never researched the connection. I do, however, know that there is a monument to him on Hy. 1 and I imagine the city of Thibodaux probably has a ton of information on him. I found some info awhile back on the internet. Hope this helps somewhat.

I know Henry is in my family tree, and I came across an article with a small paragraph that talked about him being orphaned. So I further delved into the backround and found out more stuff. I plan to visit General Schuyler house in Albany, NY soon, to see if I can get any more info. When I do I will pass it along.

He was orphaned at a young age and adopted by General Phillip Schuyler, Hence the middle name. General Schuyler's son in law was Alexander Hamilton. I believe Hamilton gave Henry the land grant in present day Thibodaux. Still research it my self but I hope this info was helpful.

Looking for Cecile Thibodeaux who had a child out of wedlock with Vincent Prejean. Child was named Norbert Prejean. Cecile later married a Blanchard (given name unknown) and produced a son. My father-in-law was Anatole Joseph Thibodaux born 7/4/1895 in or around Houma La. He was known as Nat and lived most of his adult years in Houston, Tx. He had 3 or 4 sisters and 2 or 3 brothers, one of which was named Luke who resided in Abbeville. If you think there is any connection, let me know, and I will dig out all the particulars.
