I am trying to find out more information about my Thibodeaux ancestors. My grandfather was Alex Thibodeaux Sr., b.1895 in or around the Lewisburg area. His father's name was Oneal or Louis Thibodeaux and his mother was Ophelia Guidry. Family lore is that Oneal was one of many biracial children born to a white man named Thibodeaux and one of many black women. It is a very extended family with many descendents. The actual lines of kinship has become blurred over the decades. I know of many white Thibodeauxs who say that we are related but how is a mystery. A cousin of mine, Goldman Thibodeaux, recently acquired a copy of a picture of his grandfather, Theodore Thibodeaux. Theodore may be a brother of my unnamed g-g-grandfather. If anyone has any information on this family group, I would like to hear from you.
