Ok I am at a dead end. My great grandfather's name was John ( Jack) Vincent Thom. He married my great grandmother Irene Renee Cameron August 5 1924 in Vancouver BC Canada. He was from Scotland but immigrated to Canada probably around 1910(this is an educated guess.) We know nothing of his history as he refused to tell anyone. My Aunt(his daughter) says he was probably illegitamate and that is why he never told because he was a proud man. My aunt says he came to Canada as a young boy he had a heavy Scottish accent. He worked as a farm labourer in Saskatchewan Canada. My aunt also said he used a fake birth certificate to get into the military for WWI although she says from the pictures that he looked old enough. His wife also swore that he was older than he said he was. I cannot fathom the idea why he would use a fake birth certificate if he was old enough?
