Arthur G Thompkins (new info added)

He married Letitia Jane Babcock but this is all the info I have on him and his wife. She was born on 29 July 1877 in Canada. Her parents were Henry and Sarah Moore Babcock. Henry and Sarah moved to Watertown NY and they both dies there. When Peter died in his obit it stated that Mrs Arthur G Thompkins was residing In Rochester. Any info would be most helpful.

I may have found him and his wife on the 1910 census and they have he was born approx 1876 in England and migrated to the US in approx 1890. They have 2 girls that were with them on this census Sarah and Ruth.

Re: Thompkins in Virginia

Geri, hopefully you're still tracking this thread. I think your Mary ties into the Thompkins/Tompkins family I've been researching for the last five years.

Two years prior to Mary's wedding, a Rachael Thompkins also married in Hardin Co, KY, and one of her witnesses was Benjamin G. Thompkins. Benjamin G. is one of the individuals I've been tracking for awhile. I just thought to look again at Hardin Co's online records, and discovered Mary & Rachael this week. I'm in the process of researching their lines before I upload an update, but you can see what I have here: http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=pgoldenman . In a nutshell, I think Mary was one of 8 siblings/cousins (3 boys, 5 girls) who moved to Greene & Jersey Co, IL; five of them then crossed the Oregon Trail. My 3ggrandmother is the baby of this group, and stayed behind in IL.
There was a George Thompkins based in Berwick upon Tweed as a cabinet furniture upholsterer he is named in the Pigot's trade directory for 1828-29 but there is no further mention of him in later editions as far as I can see maybe there is a connection.

There is also a note that simply says "Jennie Snyder 1844-1914"
All records also spell the name as "Tompkins". Dora married Thomas Jefferson Pearson. Both are buried in the Alpine Cemetery, Menlo, Ga. I have eight children listed. TIM

Joe,

The Alice May Terwilliger who was my mother's sister was born in 1910. I have her date of death somewhere but I think it could have been in the late 80's early 90's. She was married to Nate Keener and had about twelve children. She remarried and had another son named Charles I think. He was killed in an accident as a young man.

Alice's siblings included my mother Ethel 12-27-13 to 5-25-03 and a brother Harry. There may have been another brother named Louis. Her father, George H. Terwilliger, had two sons by an earlier wife, Frank & Clifford. Her mother was Phoebe Tompkins and her father Fred Tompkins. They farmed on Route 41A near New Hope, NY where Phoebe is buried.

Hope this clears things up for you.

Hello,
I am attempting to close some gaps in my research involving this branch of the HARDEE/GAUSE family. I am trying to identify the events, names, places, dates and relationships that shaped their lives. Any help would be appreciated, especially any photos or newspaper articles, occupations, birth, wedding announcements, OBITS. Bibles, service records. Every detail helps. Perhaps you know of someone who shares my interests and could point me in that direction. Please let me know if you can assist me in this research.
Martha Caroline (Gause) Hardee is buried a River Side cemetery on the out skirts of Nichols.
I believed her Mother to be Susanah. But I am now confused. Because on her death Cerf. her Mother is listed as Mary Jane Hardee? On the census she is listed as Martha Gause, He brother was John Mayo Gause, her father listed as Robert H. Gause, and their step mother I believed to be Penny Fowler. I would love some help here. Martha's sons Pearlie and Dewey are also listed on her Cerf. Pearlie married a Gracie Williamson there were fourteen children born of the union. Some of the Surnames of their children marriages are:Flyod,Baxley,Sarvis,Rabon,Bullard,Bunch,Gause,
Williams,Collins,McCrackin,Causey,Rumpel,Barnhill,
Teferteller. Some Of theire children married twice. Dewey was Married twice I do not have infromation that marriage I was told their was one child born of this union a girl. Dewey's second marriage was to a Creasie(spelling?) Fowler. They had Three children Shelia, Sharon and Stan all born in North Carolina.
Thank you again for your time and attention.
Would love to be contacted with relatives! Tall tales welcome.
Regards,
Hi Curtis

I'm a little confused. Your mother Ethel couldn't be the sister of the Alice Terwilliger who married Charles Burch could she? I've never been able to pin down for sure Alice's parents. She (Alice) didn't live very long and the only census I saw her in when her name was Terwilliger was 1900. She was living with her grandmother Mary (Gere) Terwilliger in Owasco. I'd appreciate it if you could fill me in on the Alice you listed as well as any other info on the family. Thanks a lot.
Joe McDonough
