She was born in Wallace, N.C. Father, Carllua, mother, Catherine, brothers, Clyde, Chjah(Elijah), and Noah and sisters, Maggie and Emily. The 1930 census has them living in Goose Nest, N.C.Her maiden name was Thompson and her adopted last name was Newkirk, father Howard J. and mother, Ludia(Ludie). She married Freeman Doc Hunt from Florida. They were married on November 2, 1941 in Milton, N.Y. by Pastor J. C. Coddington, witnesses, Edgar Williams and Fulton Boykin.
