James H. Thompson (b. 1906, Cherokee County, KS), wife Mildred, son Harold (1927)

This is the line of my family that I know almost nothing about. It begins with James Scott Thompson (1779, Sussex County, DE), James Hershel (1838, Sussex County, DE), John Jefferson (1868, Indiana), James H. (above). I would love to find Harold or his descendents. He would be my 3rd cousin. Does anyone know anything of this family?
Jay

I am looking for Joseph Thompson born 1871-1877? & death 1948ish.
I know nothing about his parents except what is on his marriage certificate dated Dec 1907.
It was registered in Richmmond, Yorkshre. He is 31 on it and his father is named as Joseph Thompson too,(not deceased). His residence was Scorton. They ended up around North Ormesby, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire where my nan was born in 1921. I have three death certificates for Joseph Thompson none of which are his!
In the censuses the only one makes sense has father as James Thompson.
My Nan said her Dad was from Osmotherley near Northallerton and was on a farm.
His wife Mary Thompson nee Scott died Feb 24 1947 and my Dad reckons he died after that.
Any help/information gratefully appreciated.

Calling out to all Thompsons with ancestors from Workingham, Cumberland, England. I have found some original family documentation - it fell out of a book I got from a jumble sale. It concerns WILLIAM THOMPSON b.6/1/1831 and his wife JANE THOMPSON (nee CARTER) b.27/10/1825 and their son JOHN CARTER THOMPSON b. 29/12/1862 at Workington. There is lots of other family history going back to previous generations. Interested? Please contact me with your family connection and I will share the info.

Augusta Co., VA Thompsons-1700s

There were several Thompson families in Augusta Co., VA in the 1700s. I know a little about most of them, but I know almost nothing about Smith Thompson and Patterson Thompson. I read where there is even a Smith Thompson museum (thanks, apparently, to some association with George Washington). Does anyone know the parents of either of these two men? From which Thompson family/families did they descend (William and Jane of Beverly Manor?.... Mathew (died 1753) and Martha?.... Adam?.... Moses?....etc.)?

Robert Thompson 1819-1911 and Margaret Ferguson 1828-1910

I have some info on people seeking Robert and Margaret (Ferguson) Thompson.
Robert Thompson was born in Ireland in June 1819 to James and Unknown (?) Thompson. His father died in 1834. It is possible that Robert came to Canada in the 1830's. He married Margaret Ferguson in 1846. They had 13 children, and outlived 8 of them.
Margaret Ferguson was in Ontario, Canada in December 1828 to John and Ellen (?) Ferguson. Her father was born in Scotland, her mother in Ireland. She married Robert Thompson in 1846.
In 1882, the Robert Thompson family emigrated from Canada to Cass County, ND. I know that 5 of their children were: Ellen (1850), Margaret (1856) William (1858), Thomas (1861), and George (1867).
Robert died in 1911 in Mapleton, ND aged 92. Margaret died in 1910 in Mapleton, ND, aged 82. That is all I have.
-Jack

James may have brother John or the two names used for the same person. Both are listed as spouse of Milly Raines from Pendleton County and father of David Thompson in Barbour County, West Virginia.

Can anyone help with documented evidence to solve the mystery? Also, it would be helpful to know where James and/or John died and where they are buried.

Jim Thompson shot and killed City Marshal T. J. Pratt

Appears in The Ravia Weekly News, Friday, 11 November 1910, Johnston County, Oklahoma

City Marshal Assassinated – Daily Ardmoreite

Sunday afternoon Jim Thompson, a young man about 21 years of age, shot and instantly killed City Marshal T. J. Pratt, of Madill, on the streets of that city, and succeeded in making his escape.

Pratt was a man about 40 years old and an officer highly respected by everyone in the city. Saturday night he took a gun off of Thompson, who was drinking and the latter fact is supposed to be what prompted the killing. The officer heard that Thompson was after him with a Winchester and called Sheriff Webb over the phone to come and assist him in arresting him. Before the Sheriff arrived , Thompson, whom as stated, was armed with a Winchester rifle, met Pratt and after commanding him to throw up his hands shot him dead and escaped before he could be placed under arrest.

The slain man left a wife and several children. The culprit it is known went in a northerly direction, and a posse is now on his trail, and it is believed that he will be captured before night. Feeling is running high in Madill and it is feared that he will be roughly handled when captured. The funeral of Officer Pratt was held this afternoon.

Since the above was in type Thompson gave himself up last Tuesday afternoon and was put in jail to await trial.
Mariah Angelina Thompson

I am looking for information on Mariah and her father Moses. Mariah was born in Indiana in 1851, information suggests her father was born in Ohio abt 1818. Mariah married Nathan Lockwood Webb in Kidder, Davies, Missouri in 1869. Moses died in Iowa in 1889 and Mariah in Minnesota in 1925. Any information on Mariah's parents and/or siblings would be greatly appreciated. This has been a real brick wall for me.

Frank W. Thompson, born 1886 Montana, HELP PLEASE!

Searching for information on Frank W. Thompson, who was born abt 1886, in Montana, of parents who were born in NC. Frank lived in Savannah GA in 1920 (census), shown as working at a dairy and living in a boarding house. He married Bessie Short 1921 in Phoenix, AL. She was from Marion Co., GA. They had children: Paul Matthew (born 1922 in Montgomery, AL) and Mary Katherine (born 1923 Camden Arkansas). Were they in Camden and Montgomery due to Frank's work (steamfitter etc.) or because he had family there. I know that none of Bessie family were there.

Another clue I have is that Frank's parents were missionaries. I have written to Baptist archives to see if they have any information, nothing there.

Frank died ca mid-late 1920's (certainly before 1930 census where my grandmother is shown as a widow) in some other state, supposedly in a mining accident or of ptomaine poisoning . My grandmother was in the hospital at the time, and Frank's family took care of getting the body and burying him. Location unknown. Have been unable to find death record.

Said to have a twin brother named Carl or Carol.

There is a Frank Thompson in a boys home in Miles City, Custer Co 1900 census in Montana - he is the right age, and born in Montana. I have received information on him from State Archives and I just don't think he is the right guy. His parents weren't born in NC, they weren't missionaries and there is no brother at all - only a sister. While we all know that all of these clues may not be true (parents born in NC, missionaries and a brother named Carl/Carol), I would think at least one of the three would be true.

He is not the Frank W. Thompson who was living in Broadwater Co, son of William and Isabella. That Frank never married.

I cannot find him for certain in the WWI draft cards, nor earlier than the 1920 census. Where is this grandfather of mine? Could he have changed his name to Thompson from something else for some reason?

Strokes also run on the Thompsons from the Factor V Leiden gene. Both my uncle Paul and my Mother have it. It did not come from my grandmothers side of the family.

Hoping someone out there has some information. Would really like to find some information before my 84 year old mother passes on.

Thanks so much! Trish Elliott-Kashima, Lawrenceburg, TN

I am searching for any records on CHARLES KEYTE THOMPSON- a wharfinger in 1800's. Married HILDA LARSEN and only child that I know of is my grandfather KEYTE HAROLD THOMPSON born 31st March,1893 in San Francisco USA. Any information would be great as I have struck a solid brick wall. They apparently came to Australia around 1895. KEYTE is a most unusual name and I am curious as to its origin.
Thanks to all of you involved in research.
Kind regards,
Carole

I was checking the community boards and saw your information about Blanch Thompson. I'm looking for a Blanch Thompson, who appears in 1920 Census records in Tennessee. She was 9 y/o at the time and ID'd as a cousin to George Brown. Her birth date is abt. 1911 in Tennessee. Other family names are Brown and Greenwood from North Carolina. Thompson is the only other name I've found.
