I'm looking for descendants or relations of Thomas Thor who founded Thorsby (along with Charles Peterson) in 1896. Specifically I'm trying to find out where he's buried.

We know that Par Thor b:Sweden had children:
1 Son, Eric Thor, he married Elsie/Elsa lived in NY

Any help with the Sweden records would be appreciated.

Peder was born in Denmark, 1934/1935, financially successful and owned an airline company. The family was a prominent Danish Family. Peder's father was an engineer.

Will L THORR who has been ill this past winter of Consumption , passed quietly away at the Robertson House, last Friday afternoon, aged 27 years 1 month and 23 days;

Will THORR passed away April 7, 1893 and is buried in Findley Lake Cemetery with others of this family;
Looks like they had more Consumption in this TRAGIC family
This was a TWIN brother of the FRED THOR who was a newlywed, Drowned in Findleys Lake probably buried here too
Name is spelled both ways

CHARLEY THOR son of Charles THOR( R ) aged 14 y 7 mos and 12 days He was a kind and affectionate boy, He leaves a father , brothers and sisters to mourn his loss;

Nothing in this clipping about his mother who died the next January 29th 1875 wife of Charles THOR aged 32 yrs 6 months and 10 days She leaves a husband and large family of small children

I am also starting to look up the family name and your post came up many times as I was looking. My last name is Cornils and yes I've stories thru the family of diffrent names and Countries. So I just thought I would drop you a line and try to talk to someone with same interest in the family name.

I am researching Thor Straten from Sleswig(Old Denmark, prior to 1864), yet there was no Thor Straten link, so I am posting under Thor.

Marha (magretha) Apmann nee Cornils has a daughter Anna Jacobine Johanna Apmann, who married Nicolai ThorStraten(could have also been spelt ThorStraton).

Anna and Nicolai had a daughter Henrietta Clausine ThorStraton, who then married Jorgen Johann Petersen, whos father was Christian Fabricus Petersen a Lutheran SchoolTeacher.

If these names sound familiar, let me know!

I am looking for the Thor family in Washington state. I have a grandmother who apparently has that last name in 1961 as she applies for a marriage license to someone else. Only problem is that isn't her maiden name, so I'm a bit confused. Does anyone know of a June who married into the family, she may also have gone by Wanda, maiden name was Akins?

My mother's family are all Thor's. We are from Chicago. My great-grandfather Victor Thor came over from Sweden around the 1910s. He married Amanda and they had 3 kids, Edward, John, and Ralph (my grandfather).

Looking for info. on the family of Norphlet(Norfleet) Thor. Wife's name Frances. They had 9 children. One son, George W. had a George Robert Thor(e). They were in Stokes in 1850, can't find them anywhere earlier than that.

Tim, The Thor's you are looking for are my greatgrandparents Frank Thorr(1871-1938) m.Jenny Bauer(1875-1956). The story on the name change is that an extra "r" was added as someone had been accused of stealing horses,perhaps Frank. I'm not certain. Anyway the rest of us are Thorr. I don't know from where she moved to California, but my deceased Great Aunt Millie Thor-Fuchs lived out in Heyward, CA; there were branches of my family that settled directly in California from Denmark too.

Hello, my maiden name is Thor. I know how hard
it is to research, but you have to remember how
the Swedish chose to have different names after
they became adult. I was only the third generation
of Thor since my great-grandfather changed his
name. That is too sad, since it becomes nearly
impossible to trace.

My Grandfather was Joseph Christian Thor, born in 1899. He lived in the Chicago area until the 1980's. My aunt is the former Evelyn Thor, also, still in Chicago. I believe my great-grandfather was Charles Thor, who emigrated via Pittsburgh,PA, from Sweden. Do any of these names tie in with yours?
