Looking for descendants of the Thornberg or Thornburgh family from Pennsylvania. My great grandmother Yota E. Thornberg born Nov 17 1900 in Sweden, married George Thoreson. Parents were Alfred W. Thornberg born 1874 in Sweden and Hilda (Hulda) Johnson born 1876 in Sweden. Sister Svea Thornberg born Feb 21, 1903 and married to Carlo Fernstrom; Sister Ruth Thornberg born 1906 near Pittsburgh PA and married Charles Lazzaro; Brothers: Einar Thornberg and Paul A. Thornberg. Any information or leads on the family is greatly appreciated.

GOT $25,000 AND DIED.

East St. Louis, Ill., March 31. --- After contesting
his wife's will, which cut him off with $50 and left
$50,000 to European relatives, and winning the
suit two weeks ago for $25,000, John THORNBERG
rejoiced to such an extent that he broke his leg and
died to-day from blood poisoning. There being no
children, the $50,000 estate will go to relatives here
and in Europe.

William Endicott married Jennie Gaston. Their daughter was my great-grandmother, Bertha Myrtle Endicott, born in Ft. Scott, Kansas in 1895.

I am looking for any information on/or parents siblings of MINNIE LEE THORNBERG B:4 Nov 1882 and married JOHN BENJAMIN REEDER B:23 Dec 1885. They had 2 daughters (Margaret Pauline Minnie Mae). Pauline was B:15 May 1911 in Hopkins County, KY. and married 1st Wesley Raymond Briley and had 2 children (John Wesley Constance Jean, they divorced he re-married and had 2 more children (Joann Sonny).Minnie was B:25 May 1907 and married Paul Ray Harrison. My mother was a Thornbrough, Her father was John, Mother was Martha(Travis) Thornbrough. Her Grandparents were Alton & Sarah(Waston) Thornbrough. They lived in East Prairie , Mo. My Great Grandfather had 6 brothers& 1 sister .Brothers were Jim, Doc, Ed, Lola, Herbert ,Bill & his sister was Earthie. My mother was born in 1906. Any info: appreciated. What a shock! Thank you so much for putting this on. I have been in contact with John since last year, just heard from him in Nov and he was on his way to Dr!!. Johns grandfather and my grandfather were brothers, and I had just found him on the internet recently. I believe I have his home address so will send his wife a card. Thank you again.

Hi June. Yes we are kin.My grandfather was john thornberg and was your grandfathers bro. I remember that we had a picture of him at my grandmother ( grandads wife) John died in 1924 and I,am one of his sons,son.My dad william and I visited Edwin and Oscar in Elbo Lake some time inthe 70,s I have a book on the thornberg family tree but I could,nt find it right now and maybe you all ready hae it I can,t remember now who researched and published it. If you have it let me knoe and if not I will send you a copy of the one I have. Your grandfather was out and visited my grandfathers family in N. Dak. I can,t remember if it was before Grandad died or after wards.Looks likeweare second cousins thanks for getting in touch. Blanche was my aunt. Met her only once back in 1937 in Pennsylvania. She had nine children by Thornburg. Margaret, Hazel, Leora, Helen, Thelma, Jean, Arville, Jack and Lee. Later Married Spatharos. Had another 6 children. John, Nick, George, Frank, Terry and Theodore. When we returned to California after the visit too PA, her daughter Hazel returned with us. Stayed with us for several years, the had a motorcyle accicdent and was in a home for approximately 1 year before returning to PA. The purpose for this E-Mail is I'm trying to get information on my grandparents who had passed away before our visit. Their names were John Creese, Mary Belle Edgar Creese for Allegheny County, PA. And possibly from Coraopolis, PA. Her father John Creese died in a Oil Field Fire sometime in the early 1900's in a place called CANFIELD just outside of Coraopolis, PA.

Interesting I should find this message! I don't think my grandfather knows of the other two kids, only Constance Jean. He knows very little of his family history because he was raised by his mothers parents. I do know, however, that his father was killed when he was quite young, by a horse, I think. Don't quote me on this! Our family is clueless on most stuff.

John W. Thornberg
1932-2001
John W. Thornberg, 69, of Cheyenne died Dec. 22 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 25, 1932, in Cayuga, N.D., and had lived here for 12 years with prior residence in North Dakota and Montana.
Mr. Thornberg served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He retired as a construction worker for Simon Construction.
Mr. Thornberg was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Thornberg of Cheyenne, whom he married Nov. 9, 1994, in Las Vegas; six sons, Cal Thornberg of Forsythe, Utah, John Thornberg of Rugby, N.D., Ron Thornberg of Belin, N.M., Andy Thornberg of Sidney Mont., Dan Thornberg of Loveland, Colo., and David Thornberg of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; three daughters, Deb Gullickson of Cody, Alida Johnson of Rugby and DeEtta Smith of Nederland, Colo.; a stepson, Gary Milligan of Fargo, N.D.; three stepdaughters, Natalie Milligan, Tamie Oesch and Sandy Milligan, all of Cheyenne; a sister, Claudette Kosel of Ashley, N.D.; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Marty Thornberg; his parents, William and Naomi Thornberg; and four brothers.
Cremation has taken place at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens under the Direction of Wiederspahn-Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes.
At his request, no service will be held.
