Looking for a Rufus Thresher/Thrasher

I have a birth record for Feb 28th, 1902 in Kalamazoo, MI. I'm looking for any information about what happened to him. His parents were Clarence & Etta Belle Thresher.

Did he not survive childhood?
Was he adopted out after Etta ran off?
If so, where did he go, family, etc.
