Hi my name is Donald Sanford Tice, I was googling my fathers birthday and came accross this posting. My fathers name is Clyde Sanford Wheeler, he was born in 1934 and passed away on March 21, 1990. I know of Joseph Wheeler although I have never met my big brother. Clyde also has 3 other children older than me, Robert, Clyde Jr., and Cindy. I have been searching for my relatives for a very long time and I hope this is not a dead end. I would love to get in contact with my brother Joseph. I hav not talked to the rest of my siblings from my fathers side since 1990 when he passed. Please contact me and let me know if we are talking about the same Clyde Wheeler.

Sincerely,
Donald Tice.

I have a birth record for Feb 28th, 1902 in Kalamazoo, MI. I'm looking for any information about what happened to him. His parents were Clarence & Etta Belle Thresher.

Did he not survive childhood?
Was he adopted out after Etta ran off?
If so, where did he go, family, etc.

Willmount Olin, aka Thresher/Thrasher

They never do or did get his name right. Those who don't know, my Great-Grandfather John Olin ran off with a married woman named Etta Bell (Calder) Thresher. Until recently, we thought Willmount "Bill" was an Olin. Turns out that when Etta ran off with John, she took her youngest with her, changed his last name and never told him. To add insult to injury, Willmount was born in 1907, not 1904 as he thought, so he was just shy of his 101st birthday. This is from the Aurora Beacon Newspaper (Sun-Times News Group)

William Olin
William Olin, 104 of Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at Provena Mercy Center. He was born August 28, 1904 in Michigan the son of the late John and Etta Olin. Bill was a retired mechanic for West Aurora School District 129. His passions were hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his four children, William (Norma) Olin of Yorkville, Neil (Beatrice) Olin of Dixon, Nancy (Allen) Watson of Hennepin, IL and Robert (Nonie) Olin of Shipshewana, IN; his stepdaughter, Edith Johnson of Montgomery; his daughter-in-law, Patricia Horton of Montgomery; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen, his second wife, Dorothy; his daughter, Lois Olin; his son, Glenn Olin; a grandson, William Olin; a granddaughter, Christine Watson; and a stepson, Michael Horton.

A visitation will take place from 12-2 P.M. on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora. There will be no funeral service. Interment will be private.

For further Information, please call 630-897-9291 or visit our website at www.healychapel.com.

I find Clarence C. Thresher age 44 listed as widower in the 1910 census MI Kalamazoo Co. Kalamazoo (where the family is living in 1900 census with Merlin b. Sept 1899 age 7 months, actually living in Charleston) with a son Moral (as transcribed) could be Merel age 12 b. MI/father MI/mother OH. In 1910 census MN Ramsey Co. St. Paul Ward 1 Olin household is listed as Oler with Eana ("Ano") is age 6 b. I don't think Merlin/Murrel Thresher son of Clarence and Ano Olin son of John are the same person. I also found this:

MI. WWI Draft Card filed Otsego Co. MI on June 25th 1918

Murrel Thrasher age 21 b. Sept 10, 1897
Living in Elmira, MI
Born: Cadillac, MI
Father born: Kalamazoo, MI
Employed by: Tom Simpkins of Elmira, MI
Nearest relative: Pearl Barrington of Wolverine, MI
Signed: his mark (Murrel Thrasher)
Eyes : Grey, Hair: Dark, No disabilabilities

Ano Olin (Possibly Thresher/Thrasher)

I am looking for any and all information about Ano Olin. I have very little information.

He may have been born with the last name of Thresher/Thrasher and later changed it to Olin.

He would have been born between 1900 - 1904, probably in Michigan.

Mother may have been Etta Bell Wallace/Calder/Thresher/Olin/Sweet/Kohler.

Father may have been John Olin or Clarence Thresher.

In the 1910 census, he was the son of John and Etta Olin and they were living in St. Paul, MN.

In the 1920 census, he was again listed as the son of John and Etta Olin in Cincinnati, OH.

In July 1920, he entered the Army under the name Ano Olin in Cincinnati, OH and was discharged in October 1921 in Indiana.

In December 1921, he accompanied and signed his father over to the Michigan State hospital in Lansing, MI. The court papers say he was 21 and living with his Mom (Etta Bell Olin) and two brothers, Willmount and John in Manistee, MI.

After this, he disappears. There are family stories that he went back into the military and may have gone AWOL.

If you have any information, please respond here or e-mail me at circulating@yahoo.com with Ano Olin in the subject heading.

Thank you,

Sherry

Seeking info about my gg grandparents Daniel W. Gilman b. 1847 Fryeburg, ME and Isabella B. Drew b. 1850 Sandwich, NH. They had 6 children: Harry, Charles, Fred, Cobert, Addie and Mabel. It seems that all children were born in Canada except for Mabel who was born in ME. Mabel is my g grandmother who married Joseph Archie Leeman in 1905. They had two children one of which was my grandmother. The two children were given up for adoption at an early age. I.m hoping to find other living family members. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Linda

Trying to contact Bern & Fay ROBINS but their e-mail address seems to have been changed. I have Ellen THRESHER (ca. 1729-Nov 1813), dau John THRESHER (1689-1741) and Ellen LONG (1711-53), m. Sir Bourchier WREY 6th bt. (1714-84) 1 May 1755 Chippenham, Wiltshire. Ellen had a sister Mary, unmarried who leased a house in The Circus, Bath so she must have been a wealthy lady. The LONGs were certainly rich landowners but I do not know about the THRESHERs.

Have you any details of John THRESHER? Was he a landowner at Chippenham?

I have not yet searched parish registers or visited Wiltshire Record Office. The above details were obtained from landed gentry and baronetage handbooks. See my website at www.derekjones.org/Ellen%20Whinfield.htm for the focus of my interest.

Looking forward to any information.
Hi Rachel,

I think this is quite exciting, I only just found Hardy Thomas, and thought that it was a too great conincicdence that his name is the first names of both my great great grandfathers.

I am from Georges line, George married Harriett Cousins and her father was Hardy Cousins, Georges father was Thomas Cousins.

My Father remembers uncles and aunts but had never mentioned Hardy, possibly as he was a lot older. Your information below confuses me somewhat as the brothers ans sisters of George that I can verify is different to yours, do you have any certificates?

Also too make life easier please feel free to email me directly too discuss further our possible linkage.

By the way it seems that we are the only ones researching this particular line of Threshers and I cannot fit us in to any other Thresher line at the moment.

Donna.thresher@btopenworld.com

Hope to hear from you soon

Donna

Hi Donna,

Thanks for your response.

Thomas Robert Thresher was born in either Bow or Stratford, East London. His parents were Hardy Thomas and Mary Ann. Thomas (known as Bob) had two older siblings, Dorothy (Dolly) and George, and two younger, Mary and Benny.

I believe that both George and Benny are now deceased. George had two daughters (?) Christina and Gillian, and Benny had a daughter, Deborah, and a son, Martin. Dorothy had two children, Carol and Michael (possibly a third). Mary had a daughter named Anne.

Regards,
Rachel

Anne - I don't know if Naomi is still living or not - the last we had contact was in the 70's. She was b. in 1911 and, if living, would now be 89 years old.In the 70's, she was living in Wausau WI. Her husband's name was Robert, but he died in 1986. I have quite a bit of info. from Naomi that I could share, but the only reasonable way to do it would be by snail mail!

Are you related to the Gloria Foley I corresponded with about this family in about 1984? If so, and she can find any correspondence from me during that time, I haven't moved.

I'm quite new to this internet stuff, but I never see any addresses on it. My e-mail address, however, is really a matter of "public knowledge," because I am already on several lists that are posted in various places on web pages and the internet. If you (or anyone else interested in the New England/New York Bradways and Broadways) want to go direct, I can be reached at .
Bette

Hello. I do believe I know of your Walter Thresher, the Methodist Minister. I did not know of a daughter Alice perhaps this was from a second marriage he was married to an Isabella Augusta Nash and they had Marian May however they divorced. I would be interested in hearing the information you hanve on him, I know his name was usually spelt as Thrasher on the census I found him in Mass, as a boy his parents are Samuel Thrasher and Louisa. His grandparents were John and Mary Thresher all living in Braintree Mass.
I do not know where Walter died, I have no records of him and I do not know where he went after Prescott was damned over in 1928. I know he had brother and sister but I have not been able to locate records of them either. I have heard the Dam has the records of the town of Prescott.

Amy
