Trying to find descendants of John William Thurlow, born in England in 1869, Came to New Zealand as seaman in about the 1890s, Married a woman named Agnes Mary Draper, who was a Daughter of Joseph Draper and Rosa Mc Ghan. I've almost given up on finding the family of Thurlow, as an ancestor in England, and am now hoping any Family members which whom I am not in touch with, as I live in the USA for the last 35 years. Am looking for information on parents and siblings of Susan Thurlow born ca 1844 in Ohio reported to be in Noble Co Ohio, died sometime between 1875-1880 in Iowa Co Iowa.

She is reported to have married ca 1862 in Ohio, most probably Noble Co, to James Sparrowgrove; by 1870 they are residing in Honey Creek Twp, Iowa Co IA, with two sons, Franklin aged 8 born in Ohio and John aged 2 born in Iowa.

Will very much appreciate any information on this couple.

Hi - you can find the family in the 1881 census online at www.familysearch.org. Choose Advanced Search, Census, and search the 1881 English census and you will find them in Yorkshire.

Any problems, sing out. familysearch.org is invaluable for the 1881 census and very useful for finding baptism/marriage/burial information - although with that you have to remember that the information has been supplied voluntarily so you can't take it as gospel - just as a good starting point!

I am looking for any Information I can get on John William Thurlow born England about 1869,going to New Zealand in the late 1890s as a seaman, leaving the ship in Auckland ?
Later marryng Agnes Draper. Can anyone help either on the England end, or the New Zealand end, this has been a very big brick wall I still haven't been able to get through, after years of trying.

Father is Alfred Henry Thurlow.

I am also from this line. Richard Thurlow is from my line. My dad was Harry C. Thurlow b aug 23, 1915. d 11 June 1991. His dad was Carolus Thurlow d 1957 in Maine. His dad was William Preston Thurlow from Maine. His mother was also a Thurlow. That was her maiden name. Her first name was Rosanna.

Thanks for your email, I have a little info on Mary Lasee/Lacy from the Stonham Aspal PRs:
Banns read 10/3, 17/3, 24/3 1793. mar 30/3/1793.
died 28/4/1819. It is believed that she had a son Jeffery, b 1791, before marriage to William.
Some time ago I was contacted by a John Thurlow who is also a descendent of Emmauel by his 2nd wife, Louisa Prime. I will look up his email if you are interested. Here is my email add; rita.lid@ntlworld.com

on tuesday last, james thurlow, employed as a 'hooker-on' upon the railway connected with the west hartlepool rolling mills, narrowly escaped being killed on the spot. he was riding on the buffer of a waggon, when, for some cause or other, three waggons of the train got off the way. from the shock he was thrown down, and the wheels of the last waggon passed over his legs, breaking the left one and severely lacerating the flesh of the right leg. he was at once removed, doctor oldham called in, and the broken leg set. he is, we believe, progressing well.

I believe your Thomas Edward Thurlow may have been the son of John Thurlow and Harriett Christilaw of Goderich (Godwick?) Ontario. If so, I can probably fill you in on a few generations.

Coleman M. Thurlow - born Aug. 12 , 1887, in Ingersoll Township, Midland County, Michigan. died February 18, 1952 in Midland, Michigan. Buried in Flint Memorial Park.
He married Pearl Keaner on November 24, 1910 in Ingersoll Township. She was born July 1899 in Michigan.
Their son Joseph S. (Clair) Thurlow was born Oct 13, 1912 in Midland and died Oct. 31, 1999 in Alma, He married Isabelle F. Kurtz born March 22, 1913 in Glennie, Alcona County, Michigan and died Oct 1, 2003 in Alma.

Hi anyone out ther with thurlows in Mass.? My Great and Great-Great Grandfathers lived in Newburyport. Eward was married to Lucretia or Isabella Hutchins. They had a son Albert b. March 1, 1859. He married Jennie Williston in 1880 in Newburyport. They lived in Oakland, Ca until they died. Do any of these people sound familiar. Any clues would be most appreciated!

Lillian Bell Hobby (Thurlow), went home to be with her Lord and Saviour on June 6, 2005, nineteen days short of her 95th birthday. Lillian was born on June 30, 1910 at McHenry, North Dakota. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband Edwin in 1991 and her daughter Bette, two sisters and four brothers. She is survived by her family who loved, respected and cherished her, daughters Edwina (John) Roberts, Darla (Jim) Harrison, Sandra (Milton) Olin and son-in-law Lorne Geil and special niece Eunice Siggilkow, ten grandchildren, and seventeen greatgrandchildren. I am a descendant of Albert Robert Thurlow and his first wife Harriet Faux both born in London. She died in 1878 and he remarried the same year to Emma Jane Postgate. They moved to Australia in 1881 and had 8 children born here. They arrived in Australia with 3 children (two of which were from Albert's first wife). Sometime after 1907 they move to San Francisco along with at least 4 of their children (inc Gertrude who married Leslie Hunter). Does anyone have information on any of the children and their descendants who moved to the US.

Thanks for the mail. I believe my grandfather, Roland Victor Thurlow was born before Harriet Agnes Thurlow and Arthur Newby were married. I should be a Newby but I guess the child was given the Thurlow because of the 'scandal'. I have got back as far as Grandfather Robert born 1834 Suffolk. Any info appreciated. Alan
