While researching Civil War veterans of Pittsford, NY, I came across the grave of John H. Thurmon and his wife Ann E. John was born in 1843 and died in 1919. He fought for the South during the Civil War as a private in the Missouri Cavalry. I'm told he made his way to NY looking for work in 1899. Although I am not a member of the Thurmon family, I am very interested in finding out more about John H. Thurmon.
