J. O. Tice Sr., Radio Station Owner, Dies

James Olin Tice Sr., 82,
of 3446 Overcreek Drive, owner
and founder of several South
Carolina radio stations, died
Wednesday in a local hospital.

Born in Piedmont, he was
a son of the late J. D. and
Eugenia Tinsley Tice. He
was associated with radio
stations WBLR in Batesburg,
WBER in Moncks Corner,
and WCAY in Cayce.

He was a member of
Washington Street United
Methodist Church, a World
War I Navy veteran and a member
of the American Legion and Elks
Club.

Surviving are a son, J. Olin
Tice Jr. of Columbia; a daughter,
Mrs. John (Marguerite) Kenworthy
of Columbia; a sister, Mrs. Claude
O'Dell of Greenville; a brother,
J. David Tice of Piedmont; four
grandchildren and three great-
grandchildren.

Services will be noon Friday
at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine
Street Chapel, conducted by the
Rev. C. J. Lupo Jr. Burial will be
in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Mack and
Dave Erwin, Mack and Frank
Wiles, Robert and Jerry
McKenzie III, Greg T. Kenworthy
and William Sullivan.
