Tice/Bries Baptism Fonda NY (Montgomery County) Upstate NY

The Reformed Church of Fonda, NY, Montgomery County in upstate NY has a record for the Baptism of Sally Maria Bries on March 9, 1818 with parents Henry G. Bries and Sarah Tice (deceased). I believe Sarah to be the same person as recorded in a Breese family Bible as wife of Henry G. Breese (Bries) but identified as Sally Maria Tice who died Nov 12, 1817 at the age of 28 years 7 months 28 days. Place of burial unknown. Henry later lived in Warren, Washington, and Rensselaer Counties. I have records of other children from this couple but no record of Sally Maria as their child.
Who were the parents of Sarah Tice b. ca 1790?
What is known of Sally Maria Bries baptized Nov. 1818?
Marilyn Brien brien@satx.rr.com
Thanks for providing all the good information; looks like you are a "cousin!" My link(actually my husband's)is through Ralph Romaine Tice, Lettie's brother. Question: what is the evidence supporting Elizabeth Romaine's parents? I had gotten to her parents through knowing her brother was Benjamin Romaine (the first of this branch to settle in Wisconsin) --- but have never had evidence of her parents. What document did you find? Another big hole in our research is to determine Peter Tice's parents.

Pam

Hi Cousin,
I just returned from New Jersey. I visited Lambert castle again and found the same info on Lettie and her parents, Elizabeth and Roelif as you. Anna Laura Vreeland is the daughter of Peter Vreeland and Jane Fenner. Peter listed his parents as Lettie Ann Tice and Peter Vreeland on his marriage license. I have a copy of Peter and Jane's marriage license. I would am so happy someone else is trying to research this branch of the Vreelands. I have additional information which I would be happy to share with you. I would love to know whom Anna Laura married, and her decendants, as she is the only one I have no info on.
Please email me at: davelolo@embarqmail.com
Cousin Lois.

Hi Angela,
The post I made was old and I do know now about Mary and Isabell, thank you for the information and ideas.

I have looked and had searched done for an adoption record or a gardianship record and there is nothing...Elizabeth's brother, Job Ross took in the younger Tice children and Issac's older daughter. Anna Tice-Morgareidge had 2 living with her in 1880.

I finally got an exact birth date for Issac from a land record in Oregon, 12 Aug. 1827, would you know or could you refer me to the records or documents you saw about this other Issac and his father George J. Tice ?? This might be the only lead I have gotten on my Issac in quite some time, maybe my brick wall is falling..

Thanks,
Cidney

Pam,
I found the info on Elizabeth Romaine's parents at Lambert Castle in the large metal drawers that contained compiled family group sheets. The sheet I found was listed under Peter Tice and Elizabeth Romaine with daughter "Letty". This sheet also lists Elizabeth's parents. (See attachment for sheet.)
My initial object was to find Peter Vreeland, and I found him as a child in those same drawers; then I went looking for his mother Lettitia, and found her as a daughter Lettie. Question: Do you have any other info on Letty's husband Peter Vreeland? ---Thanks, Rick

Listed on the 1870 Census in Cass, Harrison, Iowa are two more chidren of Isaacs' that you don't have listed here:
Mary Tice b. 1861 Iowa
Isabell Tice b. 1866 Iowa.
You may try to search for adoption records in that county, since Elizabeth died abt.1866 and Isaac died in 1871, the children may have been adopted.
Isaac may be related to the family of Miami Co., Ohio. There are some family trees that have the family of George Jonothan Tice of Pennsylvania living in Miami Co., Ohio, he had a son Isaac Tice.
On the 1850 Census of Peoria Co., Illinois Isaac is m. to Elizabeth and there is a Thomas ( P. or G. ? ) Tice or Lures ? b. abt 1827 PA, living with them, he may be Isaacs' brother.
Re: David Tice Martha Fisher

I saw your post on Ancestry.com from February 2001 concerning the Tice family, specifically Margaret Bell Tice.

She was my paternal great-great grandmother. Her son, David Lawrence Allen, was my grandfather.

She was married first to Douglas Atchlee Allen (my great-grandfather). Upon his death, she married Frank Langley, and when he died, she married Jim Cravens.

Margaret died of spinal meningitis, as did her two daughters
(my grandfather's sister and half-sister) over the space of three days. They we living at Konawa, OK at the time, and when the illness hit, people fled in all directions.

Daughter Winnie died first. They carried her body for a day. Margaret and Liddie became ill near Grady, outside Chickasha, OK.They then stopped in Grady, where Liddie died on Jan 21, followed by her mother on the 22nd.

Jim Cravens had been married to Margaret for only a short time. My grandfather said that he dreaded when Jim would return from burying him mother and the girls, because he thought Jim might leave the three boys to fend for themselves. My grandfather was about 15, and he was facing the fearful prospect of raising a three-year-old and a toddler.

However, when Mr. Cravens returned, he asked my grandfather, "Well, what do we do next?" He went on to say that he married Margaret and took her family as his.

They went back to "grandma and grandpa Tice's place (David and Martha)", and Mr. Cravens told them they had every right to take the boys, but that he would raise them himself, because that was "what Margaret wanted".

Jim Cravens raised my grandfather and Jim and Frank Langley.

This account comes from my aunt, who took my grandfather back to find his mother's grave in 1980. He told her that story.

We are kin somewhere along the line. I'm realizing that we're one big family as I get deeper into the genealogy of my family.

Feel free to link to my tree via the hints, and as I get photos I will post them. My aunt has a family photo of Margaret and the children taken shortly before they died. I want to get it and scan it.

I'll also provide you any information you'd like. Feel free to contact me if I can assist you in any way.

Best regards,
David Allen
Humble, TX

My last name is Tice and my great, great, great grandfather, Peter Theiss, (pronounced Tice)was born in Palding county Georgia in 1780. His grandson, Henry D.Tice, migrated to Marshall county Mississipi around 1897. He and his wife, Mary L. had 6 children, Samuel E., Mollie K.,John W.,David,James H.,and Betha M. Tice. David was 17 yrs old in 1920. I don't know if this is the David Tice you were looking for or not, but he is the only one I know of. I also found while there a Lettie Tice born on 2/24/1823 to the parents of Peter Tice and Elizabeth Romeyn. I also found the parents of Elizabeth Romeyn whose names are Roelif Romeyn and Allety Rutan. I am a descendant of Letitia Tice and Peter Vreeland through their granddaughter Anna Laura Vreeland. I would like to know if anyone else has info on this line, because at this point I am not entirely sure that Anna Laura Vreeland is in fact their granddaughter.

I am also researching my Tice ancestry. Trying to establish parents of my great-great grandfather, William T. Tice b. Sept 1866 Washington Co., OH; m. Eva Belle Kirkbride d. WV (?). Interested in your Jennie O. Tice. I ran into an 1880 Union Township, Plesants Co., WV Census. Noah and Mary Jane Tice as parents of Wm. T, Harvey A., Jennie O., Lula J. and Florence E.S. Hoping to find maiden name of Mary Jane Tice and/or any other information would be great!

Interested in the Robinson's in the vincinity, as well.

Thanks!

Keeping House...OH OH OH
Soloman...18...Son...Works on Farm...OH OH OH
Arthur...15...Son...Works on Farm...OH OH OH
Nathan...13...Son...OH OH OH
Ernest...10...Son...OH OH OH
Asberry...Son...OH OH OH
Jacob...4...Son...WV OH OH
Britta...3...Daughter...WV OH OH

So, Ernest would have been born about 1870. There are also two other Tice households, in which I'm researhing, listed if interested. Hope this helps.
