I would like to hear from anyone who has done any work on these Tichbon lines and whether they can connect them up directly to any branch of the Tichbornes.

I suspect that some may be descendants of a son of White Tichborne of Aldershot (a direct ancestor of mine).

It is very likely that these are all related to Hampshire/Kent/Irish lines someway back. This change of spelling is logical as the English pronunciation of Tichborne (according to my mother, who was a Tichborne) is Tichbun with a stress of the first syllable. Anyone any idea when this might have happened? Also they seem to originate from the same places, mainly in Sussex.

Many thanks.
