I am a descendent of the Newberry District, SC Tidmore's, some of which settled in the Hale/Greene/Tuscaloosa Co area. My particular ancestor, Margaret Tidmore, settled with the others in what is now Etowah Co.
John Tidmore of Newberry District, SC, a Revolutionary War veteran, settled in Greene Co sometime before 1840. He is listed as a Rev War War on the 1840 census.
He died in 1843 and his estate papers were filed in Tuscaloosa Co. They list children:
Mary, who married Matthew Jeremiah Smith (came to N AL)
Henry, who married Nancy Looper (came to N AL)
Sarah, who'd remained in SC w/husband, Solomon Looper
Adam, who married Betsy Looper (came to N AL)
William, who married India Barnes (came to N AL)
Margaret, who married Wilson Chandler (came to N AL)
John, who married Nancy Lowery (came to N AL)
David, who married Mary Clary (lived in Greene/Hale Co)
Jesse, (Greene Co)
Jeremiah, married Elizabeth Clary (Hale Co)
Mark, married Nancy Phipps (Sumter Co)

John Tidmore's brother, Henry, also came to AL and settled in Blount Co.
If, indeed you descend from this same family, you have more family than you'll ever know what to do with!
Contact me and I'll see what I can do to help. I tried to find your grandfather on the 1930 census with no success, though, so I'll need a bit more info.
