Greetings! My family is from the London, Ontario area. We originally assumed that all "Tiede's" were related to us, however, upon investigation, we realized that there is an overwhelming amount in North America. Our family name was shortened when one of our ancestors came to Canada possibly around the early to mid-nineteenth century. My grandfather's name is Joseph Francis Tiede, his father: Walter Tiede and wife Genevive (?). Walter had nine other children: Marcella, Oscar, Rita, Mary, Clement, John, Ann, Paul, and Carl. Walter's father could possibly be Gustav Tiede from Formosa, Ontario. This is as far as we have been able to trace.
