Surnames: Tierney, Buckley, Beck
In 1903 Julia Buckley Tierney married Daniel Tierney (1874-1916), whose first cousin Albert Tierney (1874-1922), was my grandfather. Albert never left Massachusetts. His uncle David Tierney (1839-1906)arrived in San Francisco from Mass. in 1870. He died in Seattle the same week as the Great San Francisco Earthquake. His daughter, i.e. Daniel's sister, Mary Tierney (c.1869), married Lemuel Beck, also a California native, in 1893. Mary and Lemuel Beck next appeared in the 1900 Census living in Seattle, Wash. with their two children, David (b.1894) and Rita (b.1895). It is likely that Mary's father, David Tierney, then a widower for several years, came to Seattle to be near his daughter and her family. The Becks lived in Seattle for over 25 years. David Beck, grandson of David Tierney, and his wife (Dorothy) had a son David, whom they raised in Seattle. His sister, Rita, married Illinois native George A Henna in 1924. They moved to Oregon, where a daughter, Rita, was born, and later, to Denver, Colo. Mary (Tierney) Beck lived with her daughter's family for many years after her husband died in Seattle. After a few years in Denver, they moved to Baltimore for a while, before returning to Seattle. Census records in 1930 and 1940 track their odyssey eastward and back to the northwest.
