My ancestor is James Tilbury who is the son of Carey Tilbury and Sarah Scott-Tilbury from Luzerne Co. PA It is a bit confusing because it appears that Carey Tilbury was born in 1798, but he and Sarah had a son who was also named Carey. I'm trying to find out Carey Tilbury's mother and father's name. Some posts say Henry others say his father was John Van Tilbury. I'm a bit confused and would greatly appreciate some help.

She married Conrad(Coonrod) Decker August 18, 1810. This marriage could have taken place in Franklin County, Ohio or in Penn. I am researching my husbands family and have found that three generations of my husbands grandmother's family married into the Tilbury Family. I have found details of a Horace Taylor born 22.3.1867 in Forton, Hampshire who married a Hester Amelia Tilbury in 1892 in Alverstoke, Hampshire, England. His father Thomas Taylor (born 1836 in Bishop's Waltham) married a Sarah Tilbury in 1862 in Alverstoke. His father John Taylor born 1802 in Owslebury, Hampshire married a Charlotte Tilbury on 26.2.1824 in Meonstoke, Hampshire, England. I have found information of the parents and siblings of Hester and Sarah Tilbury but I am difficulty tracing the parentage of Charlotte Tilbury. Can anyone help! Charlotte and John were married by banns and it states that he is of the parish of Owslebury and she is of the parish of Meonstoke.

John Southey was son of John Alexander, who was son of John Southey and Diana.
William Robert (Islington Master Lithographer) and Kate were John A.'s siblings.
John Southey son of John A, went to Swindon.
Henry, eldest of this John Southey stayed in Cornwall and became a lithographer.

No particular information.
Personal opinion: at the end of the 19th century motor power was replacing quadruped horse power. Swindon became and remained until near the end of 20th century a centre for heavy industry manufacture of rail carriages and locamotives. John was a coach trimmer, so his work was not affected by the nature of locomotion.

all I can say is that my name is Edward Tilbury IV. I live in Iowa but am from Michigan. I can venture to say that perhaps your grandfather is closely related to my own , as my own lived around the midwest. He moved here in the 60s As for the specifics , i cannot be certain.

Diana Hopkins was the daughter of James Hopkins & Diana Alexander

(Thus the John Alexander Tilbury)

John Southey Tilbury who was married to Diana Hopkins was the son of John Tilbury and Mary Griffith Southey the daughter of James Southey & Abigail Titterton

(Thus came the name John Southey Tilbury)

From my best searchings and information I have found that this John Tilbury was the son of Thomas Tilbury & Elizabeth Head which is contary to what was believed for many years.

Thomas Tilbury was the son of Robert Tilbury & Charity Fist

this is the oldest confirmation I have made.

I am looking for info on my gggrandfather, Andrew J. Tilberry. I know that he was born in Ohio around 1835. I've found him and some of his family in the 1850 census for Shelby, Ohio. I believe his sisters' names were:
Lavina born in 1825, Elizabeth-1837, and Matilda-1849. It looks like he had a brother named Mathew-abt 1839.
Andrew moved to Indiana and died in 1911 in Sedalia, Missouri. Thanks in advance!

Would be grateful for any info on the family of Thomas Tilbury who married Sarah Bisenden 25 Jan 1774 Croydon, Surrey, England. According to the will of Sarah Chippen of Croyden, her grand daughter was a Sarah Tilbury. There is also a 1793 will for Sarah of Clapham with the following:
"Bequeathes the residue of her personal estate to Philip Moore, Robert Nokes and Thomas Chippen Faulconer to purchase annuities for Mary Peake for life, not to be subject to her husband Joseph Peake, and after her decease to her children at 21 years, the interest in the meantime to be used for their maintenance and clothing

I am researching my mother's family. She is descended from the tilbury's through Conrad Decker's marriage to Elenor Tilbury, d/o Isaac Tilbury(tillbury). Conrad was born in 1789 in Luzerne, Northhampton, Pa and died in Franklin Co. Ohio. He was the son of Elias Decker and Kate Lein(line?).There is no given year for Elenors birth just that her father lived in Franklin Co., Ohio in the early 1800's. It states that she was born in Ohio but there is no documentation. Elenor and Conrad were married Aug. 18, 1810. Between 1810-1830, the couple had three children; Joseph(1814), John(1816), and Elisha(1819). The children were orphaned in 1830--possibly a colera epidemic--and the children had three guardians appointed: Elisha Decker, an uncle; Daniel P. Miller, possibly a relative; and John Dunn. I have hit a brick wall with the tilburys but it would appear that all came from the same general area of Pa. Does anyone have any information on this family?? Judi
