>>FRIDAY, 2 OCT 1863<<

PERSONAL - Dr. W.P. TILDEN, resident Physician of the State Insane Asylum, arrived in this city yesterday, after an absence of 4 months, during which time he has visited nearly all the Northern and Western States and Canadas, his object being principally a personal inspection of the various State Asylums for the Insane. Notwithstanding the brief period to which he was limited in so vast an undertaking he accomplished his purpose, and returns to give our State and humanity the benefit of his investigations. He regards the Insane Asylum of Iowa, as the model institution of its kind, surpassing in modern improvement, and in its appliances for the purposes for which it was intended, all of the older and more celebrated institutions of the East. Dr. TILDEN was warmly received by his numerous friends in this city.
