Descendants of Samuel Thomas Tillery, please contact me!

I am writing a Tillery family history book that includes all descendants of Samuel Thomas Tillery (born 1848 in TN, died 1921 in Perry County, AR) and Tennessee Rinehart Tillery (born 1848 in TN, died 1889 in Perry County, AR). Their children were James Rite (1868-1946), William Emanuel (1870-1940), John (1871-1899), Hugh (b. abt. 1873), Frank (1877-1941), Coffield (abt. 1879), May Luizer (1884-1886), Vander B. (1887-1934) and Thomas Tillery. I'm also including descendants of Samuel and his second wife, Margaret Jane Crownover. I'm gathering family stories, pictures, marriage records, land deeds, wills, Bible records, obituaries, etc. to include in the book. (This will be a hard-cover book in which I plan to order about 200 or 300.) If you are a descendant of these people or have further information to share with me, please email me at pattyt@ipa.net. I would love to hear from you! Thank you! Patty Taylor

Hi,
My maiden name is Barbara Sue Tillery. My father's name was David Theodore Tillery. He was born in Jasper, Alabama, March 23, 1903. He married Lillian Esther Pryor on April 4, 1929 in Arkansas. He had a half-brother whose name was Henry and he was married to Gemima. He also had twin sisters who died at birth. He also had a full brother named Pickens. I think his dad's name was Edward Jefferson and his mother's name was Ida Ann Harrison. I would like to have some information on my family on my dad's side because I don't know too much. Thank you in advance for information that you may have.

I don't have much to go on. No one seems to have any information in the family. Herman Tillery born 12/04/1913 in AL, his mothers maiden name is ? Waller. I've been told his father's name is Thomas Sumpter but the only Thomas Sumpter I have found was born in 1826, I'm finding that hard to believe, unless there is a Thomas Sumpter Tillery, Jr. If anyone has any information, I sure would appreciate it.

Dawnell Tillery
dawnylu@yahoo.com

I have a real puzzle on my hands. Just started a new family and have alot of information that leads nowhere hope someone can help
J.M. Tillery was born July 25, 1846 and married Susan E. she was born July 27, 1851.
To this union there were 6 children
William E. b 1-23-1877 d 1-10-1929
Carrie Bell b. 12-5-1879 d 1-19-1945 in Columbus Georgia
John Thomas b 7-14-1871
Albert S. b 8-22-1875
Thodosia E. b 5-1-1882
Charles Fletch b 8-12-1885
Carrie Bell married Seaborn Jones and to this union was born Sarah Luca Jones on 3-20-

Sarah Lucia married William Abner Sapp and then a man named Duck.

This is all I know my assumption that they all came from Georgia is proving fruitless.
Hope someone recognizes these names and can give me a place to start. Unfortunaly everyone is either passed or doesn't remember anybody ever talking of the Tillery's.

Thanks so much
Trudy

I have ancestors named Tillary who were from Aberdeen, Scotland. I have been told by a Scotsman that Tillary is an Aberdeen name. Two of them emigrated to America in the 1860s. Perhaps there is a family connection? I also note that my research turns up a Tillary family in Surrey, England.

I am looking for family info for Frank Tillery (from GA). Frank (my Great Great Grandfather) was in the 1880 census for Jefferson Co. Alabama, with his wife Jane Lucinda Taylor (from GA) and his 3 children, James D. Tillery (J.D.) b 1878, Cherokee b 1872, and Thomas F b 1874. J.D. is my Great Grandfather. I am unsure of his wifes first name, but we know her last name was Sansing, he had 3 children, my Grandfather James Franklin (m Myrtle Ward), Charles and Flloyd. I am trying to find out more about Frank. I am looking to findout HIS parent's names and where they are from etc. I am also looking for family of Charles and Flloyd. Also, if anyone knows of a Douglas Tillery, born prior to 1938 probably in California PLEASE let me know. This is my dad's half brother that he never met. My Grandfather was married before he married my Grandmother and had a child in that marriage. This is info we got just recently. My dad had never even told my mom that he has a half brother out there.

Curious.

I am setting up a Tillery Family Website, but want to get as much info as possible.

FYI. I'm not a direct Tillery, but my stepfather is a Tillery. I am doing genealogy research for him.

Thanks for your help.

Rhonda

Maude and Lizzie Tillery Photo's

I purchased a couple of photos. Both were in the same box. The first is a young girl about 10. On the back is written Lizzie Tillery. The second photo is a group of young people posing on a hill. On the back is written "Miss Maude Tillery (my mother). Standing by tree with long white dress and curl over shoulders". There are 3 girls and 2 guys in the photo. One of the girl's bears a good resemblence to the photo of Lizzie. I did a census search for Maude Tillery in 1900 census. All hits were in Al. One had another daughter named Lizzie. I assume this is the correct group. The census was Phoenix, Lee Co, Al 1900. Rich b 1853, Francis b 1855, George O. b 1883, Grover b 1886, Maude M b 1887, Lizzie b 1890, Sharp b 1894.
Maude and Lizzie Tillery Photo's
If you think these belong in your family, please let me know.
Thanks Mel Dove

I went through my Tillery Family History Album and
wrote “My Tillery Heritage”, which consists of 14 pages.
This represents about 40 or 50 years of research into my
line of the Tillery family. I have collected information about Scotland, as well as the Tillerys in the early years of the Colonies. I have documented evidence of my information on my branch of the Tillery family from Tillerys Job , Henry, Joshua, William Henry, Milton Crawford, Virgil Harrison, James Crawford and me. I lists the children but all of these have not been documented. If anyone would like to have this I can send it as an email attachment.. Just email your request to paultillery@cs.com Best Regards, Paul Tillery ----Melrose,Florida

If you have info on this could you contact me directly at Haylaf@aol.com please. I think this Lizzie is the daughter of my Sarah Elizabeth Kelley who married Henry W. Barnett, but don't have proof.

Thank you Hayla Kelley Fitzgerald

Roy France - (brother of Myrtle Tillery) - 1914 death notice
Taken from:
The Irving Index (Dallas County, TX)

24 Sep 1914
Roy France Dies From Piston Wound
Roy FRANCE, 24, who was shot early Sunday morning in Grapevine, died Monday at 4 a. m. in a Fort Worth Sanitarium.
B. F. MAJORS, 61 accused of shooting FRANCE, was carried to Fort Worth Sunday afternoon and placed in the county jail, but was released Monday morning on $1,500 bond.
MAJORS claims FRANCE and Doc STAFFORD rented a horse and buggy Saturday night from the livery stable of S. A. WALL, in Grapevine, where MAJORS worked, to go to a dance He stated that upon their return in the early hours of the morning, they insisted on shooting craps in the office of the stable, to which MAJORS objected, and a quarrel ensued.
MAJORS claims the two young men took possession of the office, locking him out. He demanded admittance repeatedly, without result, whereby he secured a pistol from another part of the stable and told the boys that if they did not open the door he would fire. Still denied admittance, he fired one shot through a laprobe over the window to the office. The laprobe prevented him seeing the positions of the men inside. The shot passed through FRANCE'S arm and into his abdomen. He was rushed to Fort Worth at once and taken to the hospital.
MAJORS gave himself up immediately and waived preliminary examination before Justice of the Peace HOLLIS of Grapevine, who came to Fort Worth with MAJORS and turned him over to the sheriff's department.
Undertaker SLOAN sent FRANCE'S body to Grapevine Tuesday morning for burial. He is survived by a brother, H. B. FRANCE, address unknown, and two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle TILLERY of Grapevine and Mrs. STOCKTON of Irving.
Roy FRANCE is well known in Irving, having lived here a number of years.
