WAPELLO, Iowa - Richard Frank Tillman, 66, of Wapello, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at his home following an extended illness.
Services will be at the United Methodist Church in Wapello. The Revs. Harlan Winter and Chris Thomas will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bill Small, William L. Matthews, Mike Hodges, Jim Earnest, Richard Johnson and Richard Hammond. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Oaks, Gaylord Elliott, Kester Gladfelder, Raymond McCulley and Jay Hawbaker. Organist will be Bev Parsons and vocalist will be Alana Poage.
Mr. Tillman was born April 22, 1934, in Burlington. He married Barbara Yvonne Ross on Oct. 21, 1956, at Wapello.
He was involved with the family business of Tillman Motor Company of Wapello, as service manager, parts manager and owner for 12 years.
He graduated from Wapello High School and attended Cornell College at Mount Vernon.
He served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member and served as president of the Louisa County Automobile Dealerships Association, he served as secretary and president of the Parts and Service Club of the Davenport District. He received many awards from Ford Motor Company and organized and sponsored the local Ford ?Punt, Pass and Kick? contest for area youth from 1970 to 1975.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wapello, the Wapello Lodge No. 5 A.F. & A.M., and the Wapello O.E.S. Chapter 257, serving as the Worthy Patron for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two daughters, Susan and James Humiston of Wapello and Debra and Tim Gladish of Warrensburg, Mo., four grandchildren, Blair and Staci Humiston and Brittany and Brooke Gladish; his identical twin brother, Robert and his wife, Fran Tillman of Burlington; a sister-in-law, Vivian Tillman of Wapello; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herb and Minnie and a brother, LeRoy J. Tillman.
