I happened to notice your messages when a co-worker of mine did a search on my family name for fun. I live in Melbourne Australia, and have immediate family in Poole, Dorset, England. My father (Derek Charles Tilsed)came out to Australia fom England in 1971, where he met and married my mother, Maree (now Maree Elizabeth Tilsed). His parents who still live in Dorset, but are divorced, are Len and Connie Tilsed. Len is re-married to Sue Tilsed. I am yet to meet them but am travelling to the UK in June this year and hope to find out a little of my family history - I don't know too much!!

I have a sister Lisa Maree Tilsed (25yrs) - but that is the end of our line I'm afraid. My Dad passed away in December 1997, at the age of 47, and has only one sister who has married and hence changed her surname. She still resides in Dorset.

After my parents separated in 1983, my Dad re-married, and his wife now carries our surname. Her name is Joy Tilsed - however she lives in Bundaberg, Queensland, Australia. Tilsed does indeed seem to be a very rare surname - we are the only one's in Victoria, and the only listed Tilsed in Queensland is directly related to me. Any other Tilsed's in Australia (and I know there are some in New South Wales & Western Australia) may be related, but are unknown to us. I hope this helps and would be very interested to find out what you have uncovered.
