I am a granddaughter to the Timbers. I live in the College Park area. My ancestors started in Virginia as far as I know. What are you parents names?

Also, could you tell me where you found the timbers listed as Native American and White. I have heard this several times from different people or where they are listed as free persons of color

Does your husband have any photos of the timbers family. are there elder members that we can talk to of that clan. My great great grandfather was William Timbers. He was the product of George Jeffries(slave owner ) and his slave Mildred Timbers.
I am also a part of the King line as well. Let me know if you would like to exchange info

I don't have any pictures of Mildred Timbers. I only know that she married my uncle Ben Payne and they had 3 children: Elena, William and Arthur. Mildred was born in Fauquier Co. Va. She and my Uncle and family moved to Wash, D.C. in the 1930's. Their daughter, Elena, is still living, but I cannot find an address or phone number for her.I spoke with her about 10 years ago; her married name is Watson. I believe Mildred died in the late 1960's. Is there anyone in your line who might know Mildred or anyone else in that family? Etta

My husband is a grandson of ADDIE TIMBERS (descendant from GAINES/TIMBERS) in Marshall, VA. Addie married Thomas Sony King. The museum in the Plaines is very good. There is a lot history there on most of the African American and Native American families from the area. The GAINES and TIMBERS are listed as "FREE COLORED PERSONS" in the Census Reports prior to the Civil War. They were Native American and White.

My Uncle Ben Payne married Mildred Timbers; her parents were Jennie and William Timbers. They were listed in the 1870 census in Marshall (Fauquier) Va. and then listed in Loudoun Co. later. Please contact me at ettawillson@aol.com. I believe there is a connection.

I have literally just started (last week or two) to look into the Timbers side of the family. I believe they orignally came from Norfolk UK.

I have started with Charlotte Timbers Brn. 1881 - she married Charles J Elmes in 1908. I believe her parents could have been William Besford Timbers and Sarah (surname unknown). This is as far as I have gone back as most of the information I have is coming forward to the present. Do we have a connection?

My Father's name is Charles Timbers
My Grandmother's Name is Beatrice Timbers
During my years in the AF I encounteres another Timbers named Vicky who told me of her Brother Ray from Beckley W. Va.
I am woefully ignorant of my ancestry. But will try to find out more. Thanks to all who post here!!

Yes that is right I was a Timbers before I married a Wood. My father was Ronald Josiah Timbers born in Miliken, Ontario, Canada. Any Timbers I have ever met (there are 100s in the Markham Ontario area) were related, although since moving from that area I haven't met any. Email me if you are out there

I am happy to reply. Yes, in fact I was born and reared in Kansas. Delbert L Timbers my grandfather was born in Ohio and his father was George whose father was Reuben H. Timbers an orphan born in Germantown, Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA in 1807. Some Timbers were from VA but I haven't connected. There have been Timbers in Chicago we were descendants of slaves. Check www.familysearch.org and find Timbers there. Let me know if you have any Timbers from PA OR that went to PA or Ohio from VA. Good luck! Jodi

Hey Jodi. I live in VA and am mixed racially in many ways, but I always heard that my grandfather (now deceased) was a descendant of the Timbers family from Kansas. I started research a little in college but after I graduated I quit. Let me know if you have any knowledge of how the ancestry played out in Kansas. There are brown Timbers out here too, and proud to be Timbers!!

James what is your E-mail. the message board gives limited space. I did go to Loudoun Valley too. I graduated in 86. How far back in your ancestry have you been able to go. There is an old black cemetary in Marshall and there are some Timbers buried there It was helpful to me. We should compare info somehow. Does your family have any old pictures. I have recently done some family history research and found that my third generation grandfather was named Andrew timbers he was a mulatto son of the slave master. He had about 6 other brothers and sisters do you know if any of them were your relative. Did you have any relatives in the plains, warrenton area. There is an african american history museum in the plains with census records and lots of family files in the area. I grew up in middleburg Va. Did you go to Loudoun Valley high schoool?

My mom was Mary Ruth Timbers before her marriage to Ernest Nelson...they both grew up in Camden, South Carolina. Don't know much about my mom's dad, except that he was from one of the islands off of South Carolina...if he migrated there from somewhere else, don't know where that is. Have a lot of cousins, uncles with last name Timbers, in fact we had at least two family reunions over the past 10 years...one was held in Pottstown, PA and the other one in Atlanta, I believe
