Does your husband have any photos of the timbers family. are there elder members that we can talk to of that clan. My great great grandfather was William Timbers. He was the product of George Jeffries(slave owner ) and his slave Mildred Timbers.
I am also a part of the King line as well. Let me know if you would like to exchange info

I don't have any pictures of Mildred Timbers. I only know that she married my uncle Ben Payne and they had 3 children: Elena, William and Arthur. Mildred was born in Fauquier Co. Va. She and my Uncle and family moved to Wash, D.C. in the 1930's. Their daughter, Elena, is still living, but I cannot find an address or phone number for her.I spoke with her about 10 years ago; her married name is Watson. I believe Mildred died in the late 1960's. Is there anyone in your line who might know Mildred or anyone else in that family? Etta

My husband is a grandson of ADDIE TIMBERS (descendant from GAINES/TIMBERS) in Marshall, VA. Addie married Thomas Sony King. The museum in the Plaines is very good. There is a lot history there on most of the African American and Native American families from the area. The GAINES and TIMBERS are listed as "FREE COLORED PERSONS" in the Census Reports prior to the Civil War. They were Native American and White.

I have literally just started (last week or two) to look into the Timbers side of the family. I believe they orignally came from Norfolk UK.

I have started with Charlotte Timbers Brn. 1881 - she married Charles J Elmes in 1908. I believe her parents could have been William Besford Timbers and Sarah (surname unknown). This is as far as I have gone back as most of the information I have is coming forward to the present. Do we have a connection?

Timbers an orphan born in Germantown, Philadelphia, Philadelphia, PA in 1807. Some Timbers were from VA but I haven't connected. There have been Timbers in Chicago we were descendants of slaves. Check www.familysearch.org and find Timbers there. Let me know if you have any Timbers from PA OR that went to PA or Ohio from VA. Good luck! Jodi

James what is your E-mail. the message board gives limited space. I did go to Loudoun Valley too. I graduated in 86. How far back in your ancestry have you been able to go. There is an old black cemetary in Marshall and there are some Timbers buried there It was helpful to me. We should compare info somehow. Does your family have any old pictures. You should really visit the African American Historical society in the Plains. E-mail me directly at kelleyh_2000@yahoo.com

My mom was Mary Ruth Timbers before her marriage to Ernest Nelson...they both grew up in Camden, South Carolina. Don't know much about my mom's dad, except that he was from one of the islands off of South Carolina...if he migrated there from somewhere else, don't know where that is. Have a lot of cousins, uncles with last name Timbers, in fact we had at least two family reunions over the past 10 years...one was held in Pottstown, PA and the other one in Atlanta, I believe

Timbers III
is my father. He will be very interested to hear about your interest, and to see his name in print.
I haven't much to add. He has told me everything you know. But I do have a computer, and can contact him at any time, if you need any help.
Good luck in your research.

Beth
I am related to the Timber family from East Falls. My grandfather was Ralph Timbers and his brothers were Jacob and William. Their mother was Annie Bennet and their father was Jacob Timbers. My grandfather died at about the age of 40 of a heart attack. My Mom was only 9 at the time and didn't know much about the Timber family. I have been doing reasearch on this family and would love to hear from you. It would be fun to find out how we are related.
Beth, I live in NJ about 40 minutes from Phila. At this time this is the information I have on the Timbers. Jacob James was born in Pa and married Annie Bennet who was born in Ireland. They had 3 sons and 1 daughter. The sons were William who worked as a buyer at John Wanamaker (is this correct?), Jacob (called Jake) who was a policeman, Ralph Francis who was a machinist. I do not know their sister's name. Did you ever hear of a sister? Ralph Francis was baptized April 11,l884,St. Bridget's,East Falls, died March 28,l929, buried Westminister Cemetery (your grandfather's name was on the death certificate as informant living at 3611 Midvale Ave. Ralph lived at 3612 Calumet St. Raph married Margaret Filoon also of East Falls and they had three children, all still living. Margaret, Miriam and Ralph all of PA. Do you live in PA and can you fill me in on your family. I have been trying to find out about Jacob also. Bonnie

Beth I was wondering if you knew the date of your grandfather's death. I wonder how many Timbers are buried at Westminster cemetery? Do you happen to know the location of the cemetery? I found in the Phila. city directory of 1890 a William Timbers living at 309 Penn Street in Germantown, do you think this William could have been your grandfather? I asked my Mom about the Timbers owning a dairy and she said she remembers hearing they did, but did not know who exactly owned it. She wondered if it could have been her father's parents. She said she knew nothing about them. She has a feeling they died very young. It would be great if Jake, you and I could meet. It would be fun to put all the Timbers pieces to the puzzle together.
Hi Cousin Beth, You asked about my mom. My mom is Margaret. She is the eldest of the Timbers children. She was born in l920. Miriam is next. She was born in l922. Ralph the youngest was born in l924. You asked about us being tall. My mom and Aunt Mim are about 5 feet tall. I am about 5'5". My older sister is 5 foot. My younger sister and my Uncle Ralph are the tall ones in the family. My sister is about 5'7" and Uncle Ralph 6'. I was talking to my Aunt and she is excited about us finding each other after all these years. She was telling my she has a picture of her father and his brother Jacob. She was going to see if she had any pictures of William. You saying Jake was called Jay. My Mom had corrected me when I called him Jake. She said the only one that went by Jake was Jacob Sr. and that his son was always called Jay. So I guess this was passed down to Jacob III. Concerning our getting together, my Aunt Mim said if we want to meet at her house in Chestnut Hill, she would be delighted to meet everyone and share any information about the Timbers she can remember.

Hi Beth and Jodi
I read all your messages about the Timbers family with great interest. My Great Grand Mother was Harriet Timbers from Pa. Her Mother's name was Mary and her father I do believe was Charles. She married Adam Bieber in Oct 1860 they had eleven children.I am descended from their son William James Bieber. I have found a lot of Timbers names doing research and several of the ones you mentioned sound familiar to me also. Jacob, Isaac, and Ralph. I also have the names of Silas, Robert, John, James, and Jonathan, along with some womens names and a few more men's names.
One record I do have is this: Christening Record of Isaac Timbers, Male, Christened 1 Jan 1770 at the Market Square Presbyterian Church, Germantown, Philadelphia, PA. Father Timbers; Mother No name.
Also the following: Birth Record for Ralph Timbers; for 1884, 12 April, Ralph Timbers, Ward 28, Allegheny Ave. Jacob and Annie Timbers, parents. Father employed as a Mill Hand. Dr. who delivered child, W.C. Cahill, Dr.s' address 3229 Ridge Ave. PA
I wonder if we all are related somehow through the Timbers line. I have been researching for quite a few years and find info from time to time. Anyway, hope this will help in some way, let me know. Would love to hear from one or both of you. Carolyn

Hi! My mum was maiden name Timbers and her father kept enough details that I have traced back our Timbers line to earley 1700s in Norfolk area of UK mainly. Now normally I'd say theres no connection but one of my great uncles in a UK census had moved to the same town in Indianna where you'd said a relative was buried. The dates don't match but it seems a HUGE coincidence for him to have travels and stayed then returned to UK so the very same town you mentioned.
I'd be happy to give you what I have on the Timbers but it may be a coincidence. I would suspect theres some relationship back in time.
Mandy
PS I immigrated to USA 10yrs ago

Their dates of birth were between 1827-1844. One biography of Mary said she was from Kilkenny, Ireland.
