I am looking for any information on one William A. Timbs (Tims) that lived in Floyd County, Ga and married Jane Youngblood. William was born 06 June 1814 Ga and died June 20, 1889 in Polk County, Ga. I know he had one son named Tommie W. that was born around 1861-62 in Georgia.

Hi guys.

Clearly a newcomer, but am very interested in the history behind the name especially as there's so few in Ireland. It seems manifestly clear that those who have put time in have come to the conclusion that we're all English??

Please let me know, if only to enlighten me of my ignorances.

Funeral services for Charlie William Timbs, 78, a
retired Hayfork [Trinity Co.] carpenter, will be conducted at
McDonald's chapel in Redding.

Timbs was found dead in his auto yesterday near
Junction City [Trinity Co.] on Highway 35. Death is believed due to
a heart attack.

Timbs owned a ranch near Hayfork. He leaves two
sisters, Mrs. Mary Metcalf of Barnesville, Ohio, and
Mrs. Ella Rock of West Palm Beach, Fla.; a niece,
Thelma Conrad of Pittsville, Ill; four nephews, Harold
and William Timbs of Norwalk, Ohio; Theodore Timbs of
Wakeman, Ohio; and Charlie Timbs of Medina, Ohio.

My Great-Grandfather's name was Marion Francis Timbs. My Grandfather's name was Less Hopson Timbs. He married Sibbie Pauline Hardy, they had 3 children, James, Emmit, and Evelyn. I know my Grandfather had several brothers and sisters and one of them changed the spelling from Timbs to Tembs. I know they lived in Tenn, mostly Shelby and Tipton Counties, and Ark. Hi. My name is Scott Allen Timbs. I live in Terre Haute, Indiana and I was told until recently that I was the only male left with our family name. All of my dad's family is gone and I guess no one had really looked so they figured they were the only ones.
I myself am glad that this is not true since I am 37, divorced, and without children.
A few years ago I found what may be a connection between the name Timbs and a family named Timbes in Texas. Anyone else know of this?

No I have not run across that connection, however I do think my Tims etc. probably came from SC to Tipton Co., TN. I just don't know at this time exactly who or when.
