Samuel Timmins married Phoebe Westwood on January 29 1882 at Netherton.
Samuel Timmins was 21 years of age and Phoebe 18 years of age.
On Marrisage Certificate, both fathers were quoted as 'deceased'
Ca anyone shed any more light on who the fathers could have been.
I believe that Phoebe may well have been in service according to the 1871 and 1881 censuses

Re: TIMMINS, TIMMONS, New Brunswick, Canada

Kathleen, my records show that Marie (Mary)GOODINE was born in the Oromocto region of Sunbury County, New Brunswick, Canada, and that she died in 1954 while visiting her sister in San Francisco. She was interred in Fredericton Hermitage Cemetery, York Co., NB, Canada.

In 1898 she married John Francis "Jack" TIMMINS, born 24 May 1877, Petersville, Queens Co., NB, Canada, who died on 06 April 1947 in Fredericton, York Co., NB, Canada, buried in Fredericton Hermitage Cemetery, York Co., NB.

John Francis TIMMINS (1877-1947) was the son William TIMMINS, b. 1836, Sunbury Co., NB, Canada, died after 1881 in Petersville, Queens Co., NB. William was married on 1 Nov. 1866 to Elizabeth A. BLAKELY, b. 1844 Ireland, died after 1881, New Brunswick, Canada.

William's father was Daniel TIMMINS Sr., born 1781, County Wexford, Ireland, died 1862/1869, Sunbury Co., NB, Canada. William was married about 1816 in Petersville, Queen's Co., NB to Mary Gahan [the 1861 and 1881 censuses give her name as Mary, but our family records show her name as Margaret Gahan -- so maybe she's a "Mary Margaret." The same family notes (by my great aunt Millie in 1956) state that Margaret (Gahan) TIMMINS' mother was a Doyle. The notes also mention that William children included two sets of twins.]

This is the same William TIMMINS on the 1871 census, Petersville parish, Queens Co., New Brunswick, with his surname misspelled "Timins" and his forename mistranscribed as "Walter." All in the household are RC and Irish. He is age 34, farmer, with Elizabeth 26, Daniel W. 3, Margaret 3, Mary E. 1, and Mary G. Gihan 76, using her maiden name instead of Timmins. However, on the 1881 census, she's listed correctly as Mary TIMMINS 88.

Daniel TIMMINS was the son of Margaret __ and Moses TIMMINS, born about 1760, County Wexford, Ireland.

My descent is from a brother of your William Timmins (1836-1881); this was Daniel James TIMMINS, born May 1826, Sunbury Co., NB, died about 1922, Charlestown, Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts. Daniel's wife was Mary McKIERNAN. [By the way, Mary's youngest sister, Margaret McKIERNAN, married one of the Timmins cousins: another John F. TIMMINS, this one born 1841, Sunbury Co., NB, died 27 Feb. 1900, East Boston, Suffolk Co., Mass. This John F. Timmins was the son of Hugh TIMMINS Sr. and Rebecca McGILL, and the grandson of Moses TIMMINS (Sr.), b. c1760, and Margaret ___. This family had one set of twins.]
Someone told me that there is a Timmins website on which there is speculation that the Irish Timmins are related to either the O'Byrnes or Kavanaghs. As the administrator of the Byrne DNA project, I would like to contact that person, if anyone can direct me to the website. FYI, the O'Byrnes of Leinster and the Kavanaghs are related way back when, as we are finding out from an advanced DNA test called "464x" that may link all people of very ancient Lagin origins.
Paul Burns

I am endeavouring to find out if there is any connection between these two TIMMINS folk:-

The Rachel TIMMINS born about 1851 in Brierley Hill who married the 18 year older Henry GEBHARD (he born Frankfurt about 1823)

The Sarah TIMMINS born 1826 in Tipton that married Henry MANTLE; their son was a Thomas MANTLE born in 1856 in Birmingham who married a Friederika GEBHARD born 1857 in Bretzfeld Germany, there daughter Clara MANTLE married a Henry Christian GEBHARD born 1891 in London (son of Christian GEBHARD born about 1854 in Bretzfeld & Fanny PEARSON)

Phew!

Bit complicated I know; but is this TIMMINS link simply a coincidence?

Thomas, Ambrose, Charles & William Timmins

The probate record of William Timmins' will (died 1852 in Lincoln County, TN) makes it clear that Thomas, Ambrose & Charles Timmins were William Timmins' brothers, not his sons. This surname was sometimes spelled as Timmons. The often-quoted "loose papers" of LCT cite that Thomas, Ambrose & Charles Timmins were William Timmins' heirs, which led most researchers to conclude they were his sons. The probate record in the Lincoln County archives clearly corrects this error. Does anyone have a primary source, other than LCT records, which shows the parents or location origin for any of these four Timmins brothers? You should be aware that Ambrose and Charles both had sons named Thomas (Thomas T. and Thomas G. Timmins), and Charles had a son named Ambrose. This repeated use of family given names often leads to confusion over generational identity of these Timmins men. Thomas came to Texas about 1832 and died here in 1843. William and Ambrose Timmins died in Fayetteville, TN and Charles Timmins died in Coffee County, TN.

Christopher Timmons b.1866 Liverpool, Enlgand of Chicago, Cook, Illinois

Hi

I'm looking for information on a Christopher Timmins born 1866 in Liverpool, England. I'm pretty sure that Christopher married a woman named Bridget Bray who was born in Ireland. Family lore says that Christopher was transported to America in about 1885 from a correctional facility in Liverpool, Enlgand. He appears to have settled with ihs wife and children in Chicago from 1890. Christopher and Bridget had children Anna, Thomas, Christopher and Mary (these are the only children I know of so there could be more). If you think you can help please get in touch.
Nickie x

First time browsing and saw your message. Have had no success previously withfinding out more about my grandmother Bridget Timmin(s) and her family. I understood that she came from Cootehill, Co Cavan and her parents were James Timmons or Timmins and Anne Smith. Bridget somehow came to Edinburgh where she married Patrick Connolly (from Monaghan) in 1903 and died in 1947. Her sister Catherine (Kate) stayed in Ireland and married a James Foy of Kill, Co Cavan. Patrick came from Co Monaghan.
Here's hoping something rings a bell!!!
Regards
Cecilia

Ok, think this is how it goes BUT, you would need a copy of the marriage certificate I gave you the reference for before to confirm.

As there is no evidence I can find for Isiah, Maria, Charles or even brother John & Ada & Edward for 1891 & 1901 I would think they must have gone to USA prior to 1891 (there is a reference for Wapello, Iowa which looks promising & needs looking into but, I dont have too much access to USA records so, over to you on this) - you said you could find them on the 1920 & 1930 census's but, can you find them on earlier ones?

I have also looked at migration but, at the mo cannot see anything definitive

I think this is the right birth:

Mar Q 1860
Isaiah Timmins
West Bromwich
6b
704

1891
Samuel Timmins 71 Smith born: Wednesbury
Sarah Timmins 64 born: West Bromwich
G/SON) Edward Timmins 15 Furnace Worker born: Wednesbury
in 65 Holloway Bank, West Bromich

1881
Samuel Timmins 61 White Smith born: Wednes
Sarah Timmins 54 born: W Brom
SON ) Isaiah Timmins 21 White Smith born: W Brom
SON ) John Timmins 25 White Smith born: W Brom
G/daughter) Ada Timmins 6 born: Wednes
G/son) Edwd.

hi! I just wanted to help you out a little bit. The children you listed are actually the children of George A. Timmins and Jane Tipton. They also had an adopted child named Julia Corder/Carder who was born in 1847 in Illinois, and an actual child named Clara who was born in 1865 in Iowa. They also have a one-year-old child named De Witt Timmins listed in the Iowa State Census for 1856. He is not listed anywhere else, so I assume he died. If you need anymore specific information about this family, please e-mail me at terrakay21@hotmail.com. I have censuses, land records, marriage records, church records...but I won't have much time to share til the end of the school semester (Dec. 14). After that, I would love to. Also, if anyone has information about Georges parents or siblings, I would love the help. Thanks!

Hello. Not sure if my Great-Grandmother could be one your BUXTON's 10 children. She was Lilian Buxton (NSW) and was married to James Sharkey (NSW).

I have only just started working on tracing my family history, so it would be lovely to find a link.
Maria,
I am Jean Timmins Stoltz, One of my ansestors was George Augustas Timmins. I looking through the message boards I have found that you have some information on him and his wife Mary Jane Tipton. Would love to have that information if possible. my email account is jeanlstoltz@hotmail.com, my mailing address is Jean Stoltz 3595 S 500 E Salt Lake City, Utah 84106. In doing geneology for my church have hit this as the end for my father's family. Do you by any chance have a copy of the letter sent to Mary Jane by the president on her 100 th birthday? have heard it exsits, just can't find a copy of it. I hope you can help me out, I would really appreciate. Thanks,

Jeanne
