Hello Jootje,

We have the same surname. There are many people with this surname in East Malaysia, Sarawak in particular and they left china about the same time, from Fujian province, China. Hangzhou and Fuzhou are the main areas where Ting's originate.

5th Generation of TING ( Teng )

I'm the 5th generation of " TING " known as TENG from Indonesia, writen in chinese letter as " T " only. My Great grandfather [TING,HONG also known as TENG,(TJENG)HONG ] he was born in China, came to Indonesia (MANADO, North Celebes) with his 2 other brothers {Old brother TING SIEN aka TENG SIEN young brother TING NGAY aka TENG NGAY}. He himself died in MANADO, North Celebes. I'm writing regarding with his message thru his son/grandson and so on, later on to find out the relatives with family name TING, written in Chinese with single letter " T " (with a little tail at the bottom). Expecting a feedback. Thanks

reply

Hi there! I'm not sure if we even belong to the same lineage or whatever, just taking chances here. I'm from the Philippines by the way, and in where I live, there's a significant number of Ting's. My grandfather, Paquito Ting or Ting/Teng Giok Chiak in Chinese, came here from China during the Second World War, I believe. One of his brother, whom we call Uncle Yaka also lives here. My grandfather married a Filipina and bore 9 children. I don't know if this would be of any help. I look forward to your reply. God bless.

TING, Peter

Seeking information regarding the ancestry,
birth, and marriage of Peter Ting who died circa
1708 in Besslich (near Trier)Rheinland, Prussia.
Peter appears in the Besslich parish records
as the husband of Anna Hermesdorf and the father
of Johann Thomas, Apollonia, Lucia, Peter, Josef
and Anton. In late 1708 Anna marries Matthias
Steinem. The assumption is that she was widowed.
