By chance was this Kenneth Tingley's first marriage that this son born out of this marriage. If so then this could be the first born son of my Uncle Kenneth Tingley from my understanding he was married before he married my Aunt Glady's (Briggs)Tingley June 20, 1935.And from this marriage they have two living son's Tingley. And many living grandchildren but sadly my Uncle Kenneth Tingley passed away in the year of 1985 or 86,he is buried in the Fairview Cemetery,in the town of Dansville,Michigan. He is buried in the same row as my Aunt Glady's is buried. His current family does know about his first born son. I was kind of surprised about this.If there is any kind information that is needed to be answered I can relay it to them, then I can relay it back to you okay?

I have an original postcard photograph of “Dell Simpson and Bion Tingley”, which I’d like to get back to descendants or family members. Photo was taken in about 1915, most likely in Susquehanna Co., PA.

I found Bion H. Tingley in the 1900 census for Susquehanna Co., with birthdate Mar 1890, PA. In 1920, he lived in Hallstead (Susquehanna Co.) son of Stephen H. and Helen M.
I am tracing the Sherwood family. My source is Ancestory.com and has Hilah Caroline as the sister of my gg grandfather Simeon Van Fleet Sherwood.
I have her DOB as 1/6/1826 in New Jersey and her d as 1840 in Penn.

It seems you have a connection and information. What is your source of the information you provided ? Do you have an old bible with the dates provided or did you somehow discover using and finding another posted 'tree'.
Yes, e mail info that you have and thank you.
On my end, since you used the wording as being possibly related to your g g grandfather, then how would you not know for certain, given the information your provided seems to reflect your opinion it is factual data?
We can all share facts and scraps of facts to determine facts.
But which sibling of Hilah is questionably either your g g grandfather if all the other people and relations are facts ? Alternatively, are you guessing that sister Hilah is one and the same Hilah who married later on a Frank Tingley as I noted ?
It would be GREAT to firmly determine this as factual.
Thanks and let me know sources and info so we can work on this.
If the correct link, then a daughter of Hilah and Frank married Allen A Simmons who was born in England, married in vicinity of Eugene, Oregon. That marriage ended in divorce per census indications. I have not found divorce record nor did his obituary mention this marriage and a prior divorce but only marriage number two and spouse number two when he died in Eugene, Oregon at a ripe old age about 1950.
See my post.
Thank you.

If you see the connecting post after mine, you will note that a person indicated that (married name) Hilah Tingley (perhaps true first name Hildah according to that individual) was, per the post, maiden name SHERWOOD. I am researching pioneers who came to Oregon, including my own family members. There was a marriage of surname Simmons and Tingley in this connection, taking place in Oregon. As indicated in the census the marriage ended in divorce, however the husband Allen A Simmons was found in census in Eugene Oregon living with his (technically) former in laws, Frank and Hilah Tingley. I have not yet had time to try to validate the Sherwood connection possibilities.

Maiden name of Christopher LeValley's wife

I am seeking the name of the woman who m. (1) Christopher LEVALLEY (c.1746-c.76) of Warwick, RI. Their children were James, George, Eunice MATTESON, Martha COLVIN, and probably a younger Christopher. She m. (2) _______ TINGLEY, and had a daughter, Esther, who years later visited her
half-brother James at Lockport, NY. The name BRUMLEY has come down as a middle name, and may have been this mystery woman's maiden name. The only Tingley to ever appear in the Kent County RI censuses was an Elizabeth, aged over 45 in 1800, living at East Greenwich six doors from Christopher LEVALLEY's cousins, Marcy & Nathan HATHAWAY. Could this be her, widowed a second time? Earlier, in 1751, a Mr. Tingley, unknown to the minister, sponsored the baptism of Christopher's cousin Paul KING (son of Magdalen and Mary). Any connection?
Okay-- I will work on it from this end and will be happy to let you know anything I find out. My grandfather, Milford Tingley, lived in Littleton with his parents, Francis and Margaret Tingley, as a child; I have their census records from 1910. Francis was the son of James Harvey Tingley, who was the son of Rose Linda and David Tingley. Please let me know if you get any more info on that branch and I'll do the same! Thanks.

I am not 100% sure on the pilgim ancestry, but I have checked other searchers records and found they have the same info, so I am fairly certain it is true. I am heading to Maine tomorrow and may check the cemetary in Littleton for some answers as to Rose Linda's name.

Sorry for the delay in replying; I lost this temporarily. Then we are very distant cousins-- Rose Linda is my great-great-great-great grandmother through her son, James Harvey Tingley. Do you know if the Pilgrim ancestry has been proven? I am hitting brick walls. Also the "Linda" portion of the name seems so modern for those times, thus my concern over which spelling is correct.

I am seeking the name of the woman who m. (1) Christopher LEVALLEY (c.1746-c.76) of Warwick, RI. Their children were James, George, Eunice MATTESON, another daughter, and probably a younger Christopher. She m. (2) _______ TINGLEY, and had a daughter, Esther, who years later visited her half-brother James at Lockport, NY. The name BRUMLEY has come down as a middle name, and may have been this mystery woman's maiden name. The only Tingley to ever appear in the Kent County censuses was an Elizabeth, aged over 45 in 1800, living at East Greenwich six doors from Christopher LeValley's cousins, Marcy Nathan HATHAWAY. Could this be her, widowed a second time? Earlier, in 1751, a Mr. Tingley, unknown to the minister, sponsored the baptism of Christopher's cousin Paul KING (son of Magdalen and Mary). Any connection?

I may possibly have some information for you. My mother died last year and left behind a box full of photographs and names, many of whom I'm not familiar with. I have the clippings of several Tingleys, mostly obits.

There is one picture, however, of four boys, probably teenagers, at a beach, presumably taken in the late 30s, judging from the cars in the backdrop. There is no date on the back but there are four names: Everett, Miles, Bob Tingley and Swannie.

Some of the names of the obits are Patricia A. Tingley of Abington, MA, died at the age of 34; Marie Tingley of Halifax, died at 65; Ruth Tingley, formerly of Brockton, died at age 83. One clipping is of Mrs. John Seymour Cabral, formerly Miss Kathleen Tingley, married in the United Church of Christ in Abington, MA. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John J. Tingley. I have one clipping of an obit of Mildred E. Best who died at the age of 65 in W. Bridgewater R.I. She was the wife of James J. Best and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Tingley.

I posted some of this information a few years ago but have never seen any inquiries or follow-ups. Rather than throw these out, I saved them thinking they may be of some sentimental or historical significance for any families tracing back their ancestry. I would be more than happy to email a picture of the four boys whom I mentioned above if anyone has an interest. --Richard

Let's discuss. I will e mail you.
I want whatever you have, if you have a good source of information, etc. I have some of the connection into Oregon as my posting probably indicated. I have done some research and have some dates for some of the members. If you have any land or bible records those help a great deal, too.
