I've recently been given a bit of data regardin my family tree and it has inspired some extra research, so I was wondering if anyone had any more flesh for these bones...
My father: Brian Geoffrey Thomas, (b.1931 Reading Berks, d.2010)
Married: Marion Moody (b.1936)
Children: Geoffrey (b.1962), Helen (b.1965)
Grandfather: Leonard Charles, (b.1892 Bishopstone Wilts, d.1963)
Married: Ada Maud Dance
Children: Norman, Margaret (d.2010), Brian (1931-2010), all born in Reading. We know that Leonard Charles worked as a baker delivery and was in the 17/21st Lancers and served in France.
Great grandfather: Edmund, (b.1851 Bishopstone Wilts)
Married: Millicent (b.1859)
(However the 1911 census shows Edmund running a sweetshop/tobacconist from home in Reading and married to Annie, born 1881)
Children: Walter (b.1879), Florence (b.1880), John (b.1888), Rupert (b.1891)
Interestingly, Walter was born in Reading, but Florence was born a year later in Ashbury, John in Coxwell anmd Rupert back in Ashbury, so they were moving about at that time.
Looking at Googlemaps, Bishopstone is near Swindon, Ashbury and Coxwell on the road north (next village up, ish). Edmund's shift to Reading is still a mystery, although that is where Millicent was born... possibly army? :-)
Great great grandfather: Charles, b.~1818 Bishopstone Wilts
Married: Mary (b.1813) - strangely, 1851 census has Mary as being born in Bishopstone, but 1861 and 1871 state Farringdon, which is near Ashbury.
Children: Harriet (b.1841), William (b.1844), John (b.1846), Jane (b.1849), Edmund (b.1851), Mary (b.1853), David (b.1856), William (b.1858), Charles (b.1861). All the children were born in Bishopstone. The first William is on the 1851 census, but not the 1861. He may have left home, but as there was another child named William more likely that he died. Harriet also disappears between 1861 and 1871, but possibly got married and moved out of that address as she would have been 20 by the 1861 census. Jane and Mary also vanish between the 1861 and 1871 census, but
would have been 22 and 18 respectively by the latter census, so possibly also married and no longer there.
Great great great grandfather: Still being checked, but looks to be either William (m.Susannah) or Thomas (m.Mary), born approx 1796.
