I have been trying to track down who was the father of my great grandmother Felicia Toledo b. abt 1861. A document created for my Cuban father to verify his parents mentions a a Felicia Toledo who came to Cuba from Canary Islands.

I think she may have gotten to Cuba in abt 1880-82 after she was married to my grandfather Jose Delgado b. abt 1860 who also came from Canary Islands to Cuba.

The document also mentioned that Felicia Toledo's mother was Aguado. Jose Delgado's mother was a Mena (the Mena name makes me think maybe originally somehow from Puerto Rico)

This is all that I have so far. Could you help?

My mother was born in 1929 and was the daughter of Bienvenida Orlando and she was Miguel Toledo-Dominguez daughter. Anyone related to any of them. There was a Dominga, Catalina and another aunt who lived in Canovanas, PR. Anyone related?

searching for Toledo family

When inquireing about family memembers given the time line
any birth records before july 1931 will not be located in San Juan P.R. you must know the location of their birth to obatain birth records. Midwifes were not documenting the birth of children after 1940s prior to this time it was not documented unless the father went to regester the child mother could not regsester the children with the fathers last name untill the mid 1970's. If the father did go the child would have the mothers last name. The early 1800's it was not required to have a birth certificate. If you know were the person was as a child most likly you can find a babtismal record or find the liven with a family members in the census. Many could not read or write but, would tell stories according to events that took place this will give you a time line to begin a search. Many children were left with family members because labor workers would go to wear the work was and leave the children with family. you may find a person with the mothers last name as a child and cannot find them as adult because by that time they are using the mothers and fathers last name.

Annette's suggestion on getting a SS-5 application is a good one. I've used it myself a number of times to confirm certain data like grand parents names and date of birth. It's also a good source to see a relative's signature.

Here are the websites for the Social Security's Admin's website.

https://secure.ssa.gov/apps7/eFOIA-FEWeb/internet/main.jsp?a...

https://secure.ssa.gov/apps7/eFOIA-FEWeb/internet/main.jsp

Pricey at $27 each but worth it considering the data it contains.

Regards,
GSC

Enrique

Just about, all the Toledo's are related but you need to known what part of Puerto Rico yours are from to make that link you might want to check Arecibo Hatillo bayaney we have a huge family. If your grand father was born in Puerto Rico when he came to the states he had to apply for a social security card that application will tell were he was from, if he is deseased that document will reflect were he was born then you can make a connection. your great grandmothers name sounds familiar my mother spoke of a altagracia may times I will ask her.

Angelica,

I have 43 Toledo ancestors in my database but no matches to the names you listed. The Toledo's in my database are mainly from Utuado and Lares. From the posts you obviously read, there is also a large group of Toledo's from around the San Juan area as well. With some date ranges or locations in Puerto Rico it might be easier for others to establish links to your grandparents.

I have a Ramon Toledo Gonzalez (abt 1867 Utuado) married to Magdalena Acevedo Ramirez. They had at least 7 kids born between 1890 - 1908.

I don't know if this helps you, but if it does please let me know.

Giovanni Soto Colon

Hi my name is Angelica, and I would like to know more about my ancestors on my mother's side of the family, we are not that close to the Toledos' side of the family so I hardly know any of them. I have read some of the post and she tells me the same story, conclusion that all the Toledos are related. The only info I have is that my Great Grandfathers' name was Victorio Toledo, was married to Altagracia Gonzalez Gonzalez, and that he had many children don't know how many, my grandfathers' name was Francisco Toledo Gonzalez lived in Brooklyn, NY for many years. Anyone out there related to Victorio Toledo, that can give more info? Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
My Grandmothers maiden name was Toledo. Her name was Jesusita Mesa Toledo (10 Jan, 1905 in Michoachan, Mexico). He parents were Ramon Toledo and Basilla Mesa. Her father was not born in the US or Mexico but from another country (my grandmother was 89 when she passed this information on to us). Ramon went to Mexico from his country until his visa for the US came through. There in Mexico he met Basilla a mexican-indian and married her. They lived approx 2 years in Mexico before moving to the US where they relocated to Riverside California. To date that is where my grandmother lived until her death in 1998. Hope this info helps.

I am also reseaching the Toledo surname from
Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Islas Canarias. My ancestor
was Pablo Toledo he got married in Naguabo in 1799. No idea
when he arrived in the island at this time. I haven't seen a
passport or visa give to him in order to move into Puerto Rico.
This is a mistery, somehow he made into the island and later to
the town of Naguabo.
I would like to trace his ancestors back to Islas Canarias
but so far no luck.

Saludos,

Jose E.

Help, we are searching for Alberto Toledo. We believe that is the correct name. He would have met a woman by the name of Maria Morales in or near Paterson, NJ in the mid 1960's to early 1970's. They had a son named Alexander. Maria had two children with her at the time she met Alberto. It is extremely important that we find him. {Another possible name is Jacobo}

As it happens I have had an interest of late in finding my family from my fathers side and the Toledo ancestry as well. My family hails from Lares however I do not know where my father is from.

I was formerly known as Juan Enrique Mercado but changed my last name since I don't remember my father. His name was Angel Mercado. My mother is Carmen Teresa Toledo Borrero from Lares.

If you have any other information or resources that may be useful to me I'd appreciate it.
Thank you.

Enrique
