According to marriage records, William Riley Toliver married Hannah Zoe Walls on 12-13-1913 in Orange County, IN. They are in Vincennes, Knox County, IN, in the 1920 and 1930 censuses. There were five children that I know of.

I'm not really sure how accurate this is but I am also a descendant of Charles Taliaferro and Ann Kemp. My direct line are as follows:

1.) Charles Taliferro and Ann Kemp.
2.) Charles Toliver (born 1730) and Unknown.
3.) William Toliver (probate 2/25/1822) and Unknown.
4.) James Madison Toliver (born 2/14/1811) and Mary J. Dalton (who is also my husband's ancestor).
5.) George Washington Toliver (born 9/18/1842) and Cornelia Wilson.
6.) William Maxfield Toliver (born 9/5/1867) and Lavina Elma Stackhouse.
7.) Amy Winifred Toliver (born 9/18/1904) and Charles Henry Lutes. Amy had a child out of wedlock and did not marry Charles.
8.) Kenneth Gene Toliver (born 3/2/1925) and Shirley Ann Baxter. Gene was born with the last name Lutes but was later changed to Toliver.
9.) Melinda Ann Toliver (born 7/5/1959) and James Lee Self.
10.) Leslie Ann Self (now Dalton).

Perhaps we can share all the information we have on our families. I also have in my family tree that John Taliaferro and Sarah Smith are Charles' parents. John's parents were Robert Taliaferro and Katherine Dedman. However, I'm not sure how accurate this information is. I think it's one of those things that you almost have to have DNA testing done to see whether or not you are a direct descendant.

As I am also a descendant of John Toliver/Saloma Miller, I am greatly interested in your source(s) for Moses'& Elizabeth's children.

ok!
this was tired as a manslaughter, William Toliver of NC,found George Reeves trying o take 'liberties' with his wife,Susanna (Reeves) & apparently beat him to death. He was sentenced to three years in Jail & was branded in the palm with an "M" for manslaughter.
George wasapparently Williams brother in law-& what with all the accounts of the Toliver temper, i am not all that shocked to find out one of us did something like this-besides, you gotta be a pretty sick individual to try & mess with your own sister.

Charles was born 5 April 1847 in Indiana.
You'll find 3 year old Charles in the 1850 census with his parents in Washington Township, Tippecanoe County Indiana.
In 1860 he's in Wea, Tippecanoe Ind census, and in 1870 Wayne, Tippecanoe Co, Indiana.
Have additional info to share on Charles brothers John and Thomas from their civil war pension files.

my family also of cherokee/choctaw decent.taliaferro found on choctaw rolls. my family names fisher,price,baird,isom and boliver. my brick wall is washington boliver b 1819 knoxville tn. but have also found washington toliver b 1819 nc. always find your family near mine. could they be the same preson.

Did you find the parents of Jesse Tolliver b. 1762 in VA(husband of Francis "Frankie" Stamper)? Jesse is my g.g.g.g.g. grandfather and am a decendant from Jesse through his son Hiram, then Jesse, then Stephen Lee, then William Amos then Margaret.

I can't make any definate move backwards past Jesse b. 1762 in VA. Every lead I get turns out not to make any sense or is a ton of speculation. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Okay, help me clarify. Jesse Tolliver b. 1762 in Farquier, VA(husband of Francis "Frankie" Stamper) was the son of John Taliaferro b. abt 1726 in NC? And this John was the son of Charles Taliaferro and Anne Kemp? I have the line backwards from there. Is this confirmed?

very possible- the variations on my Toliver are used even in the same family of siblings, so...also, for he Cherokee/Choctaw aspect, its looking very possible it was several of the lines married into my TOliver one had some Native blood-in the Rolls, there are Tolivers, Stampers, ISoms & Reeds listed with either Cherokee or Choctaw blood-just havent made the connections to myl ine to make the connection concrete.

hi- i have some info on the twins sons of Solomon Toliver (s/o Jesse Toliver & Franky Stamper of NC)-Creed & Clark. theyre listed on a couple different census,one in Jesse's (their grandpa)household,age 4-another in a Nichols/Nuchols household, (i believe) aged 14. check out tis website for the Toliver & Solomon & Jesse info that includes them- theyre said to have been half Cherokee, i assume through the mom...

I am writing a collective biography of the 169 librarians who headed neighborhood branches of the New York Public library, 1901-1950.

One of them was Margaret S. Toliver (dates unknown) who later married Marvin P. Garner. I believe that her mother was Edna E. Lanier (1888-1979) and her father was Jesse E. Toliver ((1890-1922). She worked at NYPL until 1947 and then worked at Potsdam College in upstate NY. She and her husband may have retired to Maine at some point.

I'd appreciate any leads anyone can provide for more information about her.

My searches have led me to John Wesley Toliver. If my info is correct. John Wesley Toliver married Amanda Cotton Walden (b: 1852 in KY).
A child born to them: Millie Ann Toliver, who married John W. Hause. They lived in Wisconsin. They had 8 children: Ella, Esie, Nellie, Jessie, Myrtle, John, Edna, and Arnold.

Ella Hause married Joseph Morrow and had 2 children: Ruth Morrow and Robert Harold Morrow. They lived in MO, until Joseph's death in 1928. After Joseph's death, Ella moved back to Wisconsin with Ruth and Robert, where they each eventually married and raised their families there. Ruth married Fred Halberg; Robert married Arlene Johnson.

Robert H Morrow was my father.
Ella Hause Morrow was my grndmother. This would make Millie Ann Toliver my great grandmother, which then makes John Wesley Toliver my great, great grandfather.

I have just begun my research, and welcome corrections and/or confirmations, and new information.

The info I have regarding J W Toliver is: b. 8-20-1850 in Lawrence County, Indiana
