Tonary

I live in Quebec, Canada. I know there are Tonary's in Nova Scotia - Cape Breton in particular. But I do not know the origin of the name. I assume it is of Irish descent, probably a derivative of Tonry, Tonery, or both.
Anyone have any information on the history of at least the first Canadian immigrants?

Hope to hear from you.

Z. Tonary
