Hi Kerrie,
Thankyou so much! I really appreciate the effort. I cant believe my grandmother doesnt have photos. The timing is perfect (well probably not the best word), my grandmother has been diagnosed with liver/lung cancer and is rapidly feeling worse. I am sure she would love to see some photos if you have them. Do you need any further info? Say thanks to your dad, my grandma still speaks fondly of him.
Thanks again.
Regards,
Kerri Longton

No the Toohey family I am referring to comes from Nth Queensland. Greenslopes is a name of a farm located at Officer. (A small town East of Berwick in Melbourne)that Trevor Toohey owned. The query come from a grand daughter of people who rented the farm from my father.

Kerrie Salmon nee Toohey

Hello,
My name is Kerri Longton (nee Thornton) and my grandparents Roy and Iris Thornton lived on Trevor Tooheys farm, Greenslopes in Officer, about thirty years ago until my grandfather passed away. I am desperately looking for photos of the property as a present for my brother as it was a wonderful place to visit as we were growing up. My grandmother links the house to Trevor Toohey and wondering if any family members have any photos. Even the name of the real estate agent at the sale of the property about 10-12 years ago would be of help.
Thanks
kerri

Also I should add that my great grandfather was Dan Toohey from Cave City. All the names you gave me coincide with what I have also. I will add that I was stumped upon looking on the ships roster for a Bridget and Michael Toohey that had two children with them. Since their daughter stayed over in Ire. that would explain why there were not two children aboard only their son Hugh.

My Mom put a book together in 1993 on the Tooheys in Cave City. So if you need anything after they came over I can help somewhat.

Hi Janice,
I don't know if Patrick Sullivan is Ann's brother or not. I did read that there was a family of Sullivan's who were farmers around the Nepean Pennsula. In fact there is a "Sullivan's Bay" down near Dromana isn't there. I also don't know if Patrick is related to them.

I just hoped that someone who has a Patrick Sullivan in their family may know something of William Cannon. I realise that 1850 is a long way back....
Cheers
Bernie

He also had a partner, William Cannon. This William married into my relatives and I am looking for info on him and when he came to Port Phillip District, etc..
Do you know anyone who may be researching Patrick Sullivan which may lead to someone else or some news about Cannon.
Bernie

POW/MIA Korean War, TOOHEY

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Wayne County, Michigan as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: JOSEPH RONALD TOOHEY
Born: July 17, 1931 Caucasian
Date of loss: September 26, 1950 KIA
Service # 16267588
E Co 32nd Inf Rgt, 7th Inf Division

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Toohey family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
I dont realy have much information but my great great grandmother was Mary Toohey she married Daniel Delaney they had a daughter Mary Kate Delaney (she was born 1885 in Offaly next County to Tipp). My guess would be that her Mother (Mary Toohey) was born 1845 - 1865 (dont know if they had any other children as I have only recently found the name Toohey in my family tree).

thanks
