Hi to all and Faye Roberts, Faye wanted to let you know Mary Ethel Tory-Huston-Campbell who died in 1940 in Junction City, KS, last son the oldest Campbell son, George William Campbell, Jr., died last Aug. 17th in JC KS. Only one daughter left and she is not doing good in Phoenix, AZ, Wilma Jean Sadlier. Jean was born in 1932, she's only 5 years old than me. You can still contact me at soardotbumatgmaildotcom.

Iam the grandson of thomas tory and agnes mc kenzie paterson both arrived in australia about 1850, first settling in birragurra vic then moving to omeo.thomas died at corryong vic 1901 ,agnes died at malvern vic 1918. they had 11 children

You are correct in thinking that Ken Tory is the man to give you lots of info about the Tory family in the Bourne area.
I am tracing my husbands tree and have an Elizabeth Tory who married John Heads ( spelt Hades on the IGI) in 1769 at Witham on the Hill. She is connected to Kens line of Torys.
I live about 40 miles from Lincoln archives and have found a lot of information for Ken over the past few years. He is on holiday at the moment but i am sure he will help you when he returns.

I have some information about the parents of Elizabeth Tory and her brothers and sisters if you are interested . I see you have a UK email, are you in Lincolnshire?

hi, just by chance i saw on tv last night about this website, this is the first time on here. My maiden name is Tory, and I live in Boston, Lincolnshire, England. My grandads name was John, (or Jack) Tory, and he had 5 sons. He died in 1979 aged 88. I don't really know what else to say, as I was purely browsing, and did not think that i would get anywhere. Can someone please send me an email, and in the meantime, I will start asking my uncles some questions!!!!! from Julie

Thank you very much for the information you have e-mailed to me,it is very useful to me.Especially the marriage date for William Shipman and Jane Tory.William Shipman was a gardener in the 1851 census and was living with Jane Shipman (nee Tory) in Swinstead.William Shipman was born in Stubton Lincolnshire in 1804. If you have any further information,photographs etc of these two family members I would be very grateful as information is proving very difficult to find...

Do you know of any books that might have a history of Stubton or Swinstead as I can find very little info on the internet!

I have a Jane Tory married to William Shipman in my family history.They were living in Swinstead, Lincolnshire in 1851.There first child was called William George Shipman who was born in Aberdeenshire in 1832.(Christened in Swinstead). Any further information would be very helpful.

I have seen the original registers. It is definately HEADES
The spelling is incorrect in the Bishops Transcripts which were used to prepare the IGI.
It will be difficult to find an Elizabeth Tory with no parish or county name. I have not come across any John Bradbury in Lincs associated with a Tory name. Sorry.

My great,greats. Thomas came from Hull, Yorkshire. Agnes from Lanark,Scotland. Settled in Curryong,Victoria, Australia. They had about 9 children. Annie, William,George,Everette,Selina, Mary,Edwin,Maggie,& Barbara.
Everett Earl I think is my grandfathers. I think he married a Margaret Houghton (could be Howden), one of their children was Agnes Patterson Tory who settled in Maryborough,Queensland.

The Mormon IGI file shows "Elizth Tory,F, Spouse Jno HADES, marriage 3 Nov. 1769 at Witham-On-The-Hill, Lincoln, England.
Have you checked for the spouse's parents under the surname HADES?

I just ran into your post while looking for 'my' Elizabeth Tory, born 22Aug. 1750 (no place name) who married my ancestor, John BRADBURY, b. 1 Oct. 1742 (no place name), died 24 June, 1822 prob. in Sussex Co., NJ. I am looking for John's birthplace and parents (both prob. in England). If you find 'my' Elizabeth Tory, please let me know.

I have records of Jane Tory bap in Swinstead on 1 May 1807 daughter of Michael and Ann Tory (Moore).

Michael and Ann Married in Swinstead on 27 Dec 1801. Witness Samuel Tollins and Edward Smart.

Jane Tory married William Shipman in Swinstead on 7 December 1829. Witness James Mettam and Mary Ann Shipman.

I don't know if this helps. There is a discrepancy of about 20 years.

I have more on Jane's family. So if you think it is the right one and you want it don't hesitate to ask.

My husband is Christopher Riley and his mother was Effie Tory, her father was Tom Tory and mother was Ethel.
