I am researching the family history of my father-in-law, Rev. Dr. William G. Towart. Most of what I have is family lore or hearsay. He was born in Glasgow, Scotland 1 Jan 1880 to William Towart and Mary Morrison. His father was a surgeon. He died of blood poisoning Sept. 1879. The mother died before William was two. He was raised by Mary's mother until she died 1890. They lived in Glasgow and Paisley,Scotland and Portugal. When the grandmother died, William was sent to Pretty River Valley,Canada to live on a farm with family friends, the Gillies. In 1888, he came to live in North Adams, Massachusetts. After three years, he was sent to Colgate Academy for his high school education. He went on to Colgate University. He was minister of the Baptist Church in Bennington, Vermont for over twenty five years.
I have been unable to find any data on his birth, and the death of his parents. Also, I have no info on his grandmother. Any help would be appreciated
